Painted my tank

In preparation for my week long round trip to Melbourne from Sydney, I bought an Iron tank for my Forty Eight.

Here is the tank as I bought it. Harley wanted $1200, I found this on eBay from Germany delivered for $300.

Note the ding on the upper right... It was a bit of a pinch, but easy to fill.

Here she is filled and sanded. The top coat was good, so just knocked it back with some 250 grit.

    Primered...

Base coat of 2 pack 'Dark Grey Metallic'

I didn't want it to be plain so went with the simplified HD emblem... Made a template in some vinyl with a craft knife, stuck it on, sprayed over with some black acrylic and then pealed the template off...

Heres some shots of the final result...

She went on a dream and I love the result:

If anyone wants to see the updatea from the trip you can on Facebook or instagram @ninetynineco

Woud love to hear your thoughts...

Mate, that turned out awesome. Love the simplicity... and great to get it done for a 1/3 of the price the dealer wanted a new one. Awesome stuff!

Great work man ! I have got the same drag bar and saddles seat. Just wondering was that comfy enough for your long rides ?

Hey Jam, yeah it was alright. Would have ideally had a softer seat and bars that were a little higher, but I didnt really think about it on the journey which tells me it must have been ok haha!

I've just bought Biltwell Frisco bars and I think they will be a lot more comfy for a long ride.
