G`day guys I`m  originally from NSW but have lived here in perth for the last 30 yrs , we dont need yearly inspections to re-rego our vehicals here, when growing up out near  liverpool we needed to get a pink slip or green cant remember each year, is this still the case? whats the cost & do you need to take off all non stock items ,.. pipes mirrors etc etc thanks

Yes mate, you need a rego inspection here once your vehicle is over 5 yrs of age, unless it's a commercial vehicle, ie ute, truck etc and then it's every year regardless or not of how old it is. As far as pipes etc, some inspection places will pass it, some won't . Then you get a thingamy thing on your pink slip which has to be rectified before it passes.

hey there gidgi, mate having interstate plates (non nsw) im pretty sure your bike will have to go over the pits (inspection) for a BLUE slip which means your bike will have to be of OEM standards which means be the same configuration as it was when manufactured. Therefore stock pipes and air cleaner, no ape hanger bars if you have them, reflectors on rear of vehicle, certified mirrors and indicator lenses, pretty much nothing that is aftermarket. Aftermarket seat O.K
I was going to purchase a bike from Victoria some years back and this was going to be the case in that situation.
This is if your bike is over 5yrs old. Privately owned vehicles less than 5 yrs old require no inspection.
If it only requires pink slip as stated in neales previous post some stations will pass aftermarket pipes and some will not, as long as the pipes are non defective (no holes or rust) fitted correctly (no Leaks) and are of solid construction they have no legal grounds to knock you back as noise testing is not a requirement for rego. This is an EPA law only. Coppers cant even defect you for noise emmisions, can only defect if unsafe or un-roadworthy, noise is not in that catagory
Mate just jump on the NSW Gov RMS website and all the info will be there to source yourself .
If you have aftermarket stuff such as loud pipes on your bike I would leave it registered to a W.A address if you can so the cuntin NSW highway ptrl cant send you off to an EPA station for a noise test. No doubt rego would be a lot cheaper and you don't have to return for annual inspections, 4 mates of mine that live in nsw have QLD and VIC regos and the coppers cant touch em for pipes they just get issued with speeding fines..easier to check out RMS website you wont get any mis-information that way.
    .Regards and good luck ............FLIPDOG

When I bought my Night Train private import from Vic, I had to get an inspection done because it was an interstate vehicle as well as an import. The guys over at Aitkens Bike and Power at Campbelltown sorted out my inspection, was hassle free and very professional.

My advice is maintain your existing rego though, as that's completely hassle free.

Pink and green for your yearlys blue when you come from interstate. As said above. Car mechanics usually pass bikes without too many dramas if u find a good one. They don't poke around too much usually too since it's not technically their field. I see one guy for all my vehicles. Never had dramas with aftermarket gear
