Hi all...With the kind of power Ando,s bikes pumping out I doubt any tyre would be satisfactory for drag racing.Tyre pressure mite be the key to good grip.Along with a ton of practice,LOL.

Don't forget they are both designed as a "cruiser" tyre.

There are plenty of options, and I would look at the "Sports touring" range to get at least some reasonable life.

I am looking at the Avon "Storm 2 ultra" or "Storm 3D X-M" . Also the Metzeler Z8 or new Bridgestone Battlax T30 would work.

Will a "true" 180  fit your bike ?

I have the ND 180 on my dyna, on an 18" rim though, very tight fit, but does fit
careful changing profiles on the 17" rim, everything is not as it seems

Yeah 200 mate... And don't they look good on the bike lol. I have had my front end come up on the bob ( stage 4) with the dragon on, but believe it or not it wasn't me riding it, was my Mechnic and mate hahaha. Spun in first -second then griped and up she come. Was pretty to watch I gotta say.

Anyhows yeah I had no complaints with the Avon, and maybe I am a bit bias with the dragons as I have always swore by em and rate them highly.

Thanks Ando for sharing all this exotica with us mere mortals. A question. If you did it again is there any thing youd do different? Anything you are not happy with so far?

It's good to see the factory crank and rollers can stand up the extra power.
When you fitted the new high comp' pistons, did you fit them using the stock factory bore ?
Just wondering why we hear all the stories of people having trouble with bad cylinders and poor ring seal.
Did you sort out anything with rear tyres ?

    Cheers

Good info' on the Tyres. Bit of a shame though, as I expected better grip.

I have to get another set of 120 cylinders due to a bad over-bore job (please note: NOT Hoody's work, but I'm glad he checked them for me before I used them) .

Hoody is getting me a new stock set with pistons.
He will be checking them for clearance, but he's confident they will be good from what he's seen.
Maybe the break in tune is a cause of some of the problems.

That's what I had planned with the first set  , so I now have a spare set of .010" pistons if needed !
So I will wait until I see how the new stock set measure up.
At least I will have room to move If I decide to change things later.

I have to say that I am very impressed with Hoody's work.

Hoody does a lot of machining work for Thundertech and has a really good rep, so yeh I pretty sure you won't have any issues from his work

Been a bit quiet on the bike but got bored this morning and thought I would give something a try, can't be done they all say

Had an old 200tyre from the Softy laying around and thought I will fit it up the rim and see if it fits under the gaurd well fuck me it fits, no didn't need no wide tyre kit or this or that.

Went for a test ride and I can take of at lights now without smoking the back tyre plus looks shit hot to

    Good shit
Yer I read somewhere on a custom spoke wheel company that a 200 fits in a 17" and 18" rim.
    Looks chunky.

By the way on side note. The VinError is fixed with a purchase of a new battery. Old one died this morning.
Now cranks over fast and straightaway.

200mm mmmmm maybe not under the fatbob guard lol
