Don't forget they are both designed as a "cruiser" tyre.
There are plenty of options, and I would look at the "Sports touring" range to get at least some reasonable life.
I am looking at the Avon "Storm 2 ultra" or "Storm 3D X-M" . Also the Metzeler Z8 or new Bridgestone Battlax T30 would work.

Will a "true" 180 fit your bike ?
gday ando i put some avons on my street bob after doing a heap of reading about em, put the storm 2 av56 170 60 17 on rear as they dont do a 180
grips really well no wheel spin with hard launches!
have been wanting to run mine down the quarter but have to go to the big island these days as no track in tas atm
actually just had a look they do have a 180 now, got mine nearly two years ago when a 180 wasnt available
storm 2s the way to go mate
2nd set dragons wore 1st set out in no time but when 2 up i could lift front so easy if giv handfull leaving lights expecting wheelspin ,forgot 2 allow 4 passenger and instead of spining up front wheel is now 4ft off ground as accellerating away from lights it caught me by surprise like farkin hell but hands controlled bike by instinct as have lots experience riding on one wheel ,i never had time 2 equate the fine line of slipping clutch and throttle amazing isnt it it was like who da fark,s in control of machine its just muscle memory of doin wheelstands on all sorts of bikes ,like this was full on launch could hav flipped if wasnt for instinctive manipulation of controls ,so now we hav discovered that 2 up can produce amazing wheelstands and be totally incontrol so they just got longer and at full knots dude on back was loving it ,power of stage 4 allows such lofting front wheel 100 plus feet 3-4 ft off deck and i feel in control and wheel comes down nice an soft and tyre was worn out ,so dragon still gave grip and bike still handled great even with shot tyre still plenty edge grip on trye an can throw fatbob hard into bends and very quick 2 dodge hole or something on road due 2 16inch wheels which gives quick steering flickability all 500cc grand prix bikes in the past had 16inch wheels and they were so easy 2 change line i had suzuki 1150cc with 16iinch front it was awsome quick steering bike but bike would get death wobbles if took ya hands off bars and sat on it wrong read about wobbles on forum and its similar 2 suzukis in past but ive solved wobbles just bought steering damper from states made 2 fit fatbob no more wobbles even flat out with shot rear just rock solid at 200klicks we did same bak on suzukis an cured wobbles cost 350 i think the damper just bought online j an p cycles usa an delivered 2 door or was in letterbox cant recall but bike was wobbler tyre shot i go threw tyres quick but waited till got damper 2 see wat would happen at speed when damper on ,part came sorta read instuctions us aussies arnt great how 2 readers look at pic,s how 2 easy as clamp goes around forkleg put tape around frame bolt clamp on frame then attach the ram piece threw centre of eliptical ball joint 2 bolts locktite of course takes 15min to half hour no makeing or grinding parts just attach and looks flimsy an u look at it an u can wobble up and down freely and im thinking this things gunna rattle like fuk well out we goes wind adjustment 2 hard get on hwy and bike seems so much more planted just from this gadjet an get to high speed test 180plus then 200 an yep it was as rock solid on hwy not even a hint of shimmy,s that were happening before it was a new bike just by attaching steering damper no fukin around with other things ive read about that cost heaps more and u still av prob coz once tyre on rear gets less tread tjhats when wobbling starts ive had dampers on a lot of bikes and usally sorts the bikes problem ,shit wrote to much on new dragons again found now that can wheelstand bike from lights one up and repeatedly can keep doing light after light 3-4ft of deck at full knots each light tyre is stickier an jus comes up bike usally spins 4 a bit then grips lofting few inches under power but 4 last few rides bloody front wheel just comes straight up 3-4ft instantly wether its way im dumpin clutch or dragon is just bit different in rubber compound dont know but didnt behave like this on last dragon or clutch is just at place were its allowing front wheel 2 loft up instead of spinng up as it used 2 do always anyway done wheelstands on bike like was riding 2stroke motocrosser it must blow peoples minds as this great big roaring harley takes off on one wheel i mean its blowin me away how far can ride on one wheel at full noise an it just seems so easy ,i shouldnt do this sorta thing but fark 4 me 2 come home an go fark that was insane and was so in control ive done good wheelies 2 up but this one up wheelies just came from nowhere an thankyou dragons and stg 4 HD 103ci fatbob just when u thought u had handle on bike along comes another total beginning and wasnt even trying 2 do wheelstands wish i had on film and the feeling after doing was unbuyable it just happened again and again each launch that was the winning part coz once yeah wow but 4 in a row each time getting longer dragons wre sticky that day and near new SHINGLES
How ya gettin along with the 120 Ando?
No worries cob got 10 000ks on it now and its running sweet as,,, loving it
Good info' on the Tyres. Bit of a shame though, as I expected better grip. I have to get another set of 120 cylinders due to a bad over-bore job (please note: NOT Hoody's work, but I'm glad he checked them for me before I used them) .
Hoody is getting me a new stock set with pistons. He will be checking them for clearance, but he's confident they will be good from what he's seen. Maybe the break in tune is a cause of some of the problems.
That's what I had planned with the first set , so I now have a spare set of .010" pistons if needed ! So I will wait until I see how the new stock set measure up. At least I will have room to move If I decide to change things later.
I have to say that I am very impressed with Hoody's work.
Been a bit quiet on the bike but got bored this morning and thought I would give something a try, can't be done they all say
Had an old 200tyre from the Softy laying around and thought I will fit it up the rim and see if it fits under the gaurd well fuck me it fits, no didn't need no wide tyre kit or this or that.
Went for a test ride and I can take of at lights now without smoking the back tyre plus looks shit hot to
