    Looks the goods Ando

What CC's did the heads measure up originally and what are they now with the.020" skimmed off? Did you use the.030" head gaskets again?

    Hi Ando,

Are you sure that's not meant to be 0.020" shaved? Can't believe anything close to 1/4" (i.e. 0.200") has come off any dimension here. If we are talking sinking the valves by 0.020", that's a bit to reset the valve seat.

    FONTANA your right typo

Crash these are the HURRICANE heads with matching piston seen 3 sets of these heads in the flesh now and are the same

BuDA 99CC start of didn't check after was going to work out with a comp test as I know what it was before and it all adds up on bigboyz calculator

Had the the StreetBob now 10 months and clocked up 15000ks, doing a big service and inspection following the head recondition and thought I would inspect the compensator

with this thing pumping out north of 145HP I expected to see some signs of wear but to my suprise its in feally good nic

Our Yankie mates seam to bag the hell outa the SE compensator but I haven't sean to many issues from them.

I had mine apart when I fitted the mid controls at around 22,000 kms. Of that 9000 was a stage 2 103ci, about 9000km on a 122hp 120r and the last 4000km on the 147hp RX motor. The compensator looked fine, about like yours Ando with just some smoothing of the original casting marks but no real damage. Not sure what the yanks run for primary oil but they sure seem to have issue with the SE comps. I just use the same as engine for lube - ie V-Twin 20/50. Seems to work.

Time for an update. With just over 20000ks on the clock bike running great except for an oil weep on the rear cylinder base gasket and the wet weather in, I figured I would pull the engine to fix the oil weep and at the same time pull the crank and get it welded up. So with a Crank run out of .001" when new it is now .018", snapped of the bolt that holds the sprocket in the cam and worn out the camplate.

This had not developed any vibration or low oil pressure so if it didn't have that oil weep I would still be riding it and who know what futher damage could of happened

So I have an new S&S Crank on order and other bits and pieces to get the Bob up and running again

on a good note the compesator is in really good nick after 20000ks and getting beaten up on all the time

Shit bud, thats not good. Good thing you caught it.
When would be the ideal time to get the crank welded like you were going to do before ordering a new one?
Only bother during a rebuild or even on just a stock motor for peace of mind?
