Hi guys! First post here! :-)

Bit about me - 29 male in Melbourne... Been riding for 10 years. Had a few bikes in that time...

    VTR250

Honda Shadow 250 (loved this little cruiser)

    Suzuki Katana 750

    08'  GSXR 1000

    06' Suzuki Marauder 1600

    06' Suzuki M109r <---- awesome

    Currently on a 2014 Aprilia RSV4

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bought the Aprilia as all of my mates are on sports bike and Ducati's etc so a bit easier to fit in. But, I am a cruiser guy deep down. I need to go back and stay for good.

I have only had the Aprilia 4 months. With only 450kms on the clock.

The Mrs isnt rapt I already want to sell it but she understands. So I want to buy a Harley. A bike I can keep for a number of years! I am a bit of a sucker for wanting new models though, so I am hoping as Harley dont really make dramatic changes at all each year. I can stay on a bike for a good 5 years.

I Really like the look of the Breakout, Softail standard and the streetbob.

Can someone give me a brief comparison between the 3?

I'll definitely get down and test them... just looking to get some info and opinions first :-)

    Thanks all.

For me the looks of the Softail can't be beaten. But handling and practicality for touring with the non-traditional rear suspension of the Softails is inferior to the Dyna range.
You should also consider the Wide Glide and Fatbob with the dual front disc brakes. Test ride and test ride some more.

    Thanks for the reply fatbat.
The bike wont be used for long trips or touring. MAYBE a once off one day, but the bike will mainly be used for weekend riding, probably no more than a 300kms round trip and tops.
The softail does look great. Big fan. The breakouts more drag style setup appeals to me. I kind of like vrods but I need abit more of a traditional look. Breakout seems to have a bit of both.

so many great options. Will be tough.

    Ha, welcome

My first bike was a vtr250 then my second bike was a Honda shadow 400

I've never riden the break out but I have the softtail and street bob

Softtail looks awesome and good for "cruising" chilling out riding (I loved my fatboy)

But as fat bat said, the dynas (street bob) have much better handling and ride comfort. Can be ridden a LOT harder.

    Really?
What is it about them that allows them to be ridden so much harder??...
You're talking more like, coming into corners a littler hotter as it will pull up faster? - Can u lay these down a little more in the tight bends? - more power?

The Dyna's (streetbob) have better suspension and better ground clearance.
The Softail has suspension under the seat (hidden) to give it a traditional look. That is why they look cool, but dont handle as well.
Also the Softail has hard mounted engine which means it needs engine vibration dampeners in the motor, which means the power out is slightly less... So, Dyna, goes harder, handles better, better ground clearance. Softail, Looks better, cruises beautifully.

If you are considering a Dyna do yourself a favor and ride a fatbob after you have ridden the Streetbob.

Also, quite a difference in price. The Streetbob is the entry level big engine harley and a bit cheaper than the other models.

For me it would be the Fatbob.

The best bike for you is the one that makes you feel the most comfortable with on a long test ride.

Your riding style will adjust to the bike once you've had it a while.
