Nearly laid down my train...

    G'day All,

Just as the subject line says I nearly laid the bike down coming into a set of lights on Fri. Pretty much left work and all was normal, then merged right into a right hand turning lane at a set of lights doing about 50km/h and the front end washed out, managed to stomp my right foot down and the bike came back up (thank you trail riding that I used to do), I throught that was wierd and washed of speed and gently made the merge but it washed again (had to stomp again but not as bad) and I noticed the front tyre was flat as a tack. Slowed right down, putted round the right turn and idled home about 1km.

Getting home I found I had picked up a screw in the front tyre. The worst bit about it is it came out of nowhere, I putted home because I have no way of recovering the bike, and I didnt have my slime and air compressor on the bike.

Later in the arvo I fitted the slime, reseated the tyre and all is fine now, but shit it gave me a fright. I think I will run slime in my tyres permanantly now in case I pick up anything again.

Anyone ever been in a similar situation? if so, what was your fix to the predicament?

    Cheers Ryno

had the same thing happen on a DR650 on the road on the way home from buying it. Scared the shit out of me but managed to keep it upright and called my mate who had a ute and he came and picked me up. I ended up getting a tube put in it.

Carry a little puncture repair kit and ya'll never have ta use it,,,,,don't carry one and you know what will happen !

    (Murphys Law)

BTW, kit will come in handy one day when you come across some one else stranded along the way,,,,,

    Ive had it twice.
Once on the F3 going north out of Sydney.
Just did a Rad overtake of three 18 wheelers in different lanes.
Luckily it was the back tyre.

Its funny you say that about the puncture repair kit, I travelled to Uluru and back with it, no punctures. I travel to work (10mins) without, puncture. I like your thinking, it's now a permanent accessory.
