Bike roll problems

    Hi,

I bought a 1990 Fatboy a few months ago. I would appreciate any opinions you would have. When in Neutral the bike is hard to roll forward but even harder to roll backwards. I'm guessing the rear brake is grabbing?  Thanks for any replies.

if the bike is in neutral, how would the clutch affect it

I would go with the brakes, then wheel bearings

does it happen with engine on or off? can you hear any rubbing/grinding? are your legs long enough?

Jack the bike up and try to spin the wheel by hand. It should rotate a bit after you let go. If it stops as soon as you let go then that's your problem.

Mmmm, I didn't read the word "neutral". I thought it was like mine was - hard to roll forward or backwards even with the clutch in.

Jacked it up. I'm guessing the brake disc is warped. Let you know when its fixed. Thanks for the replies.

I thought usually if it's warped that bad you should be able to move it to a position where it turns fairly freely then it should tighten up and loosen with each rotation. So, spin stop spin stop spin stop etc.  Why would going backwards make a difference?

Generally they warp because they have been overheated somehow. If it is warped then i would also replace the pads and service the caliper as well (they are not big jobs and you can do it yourself)
