I've got an 07 Sportster XL883L and want to chop the rear fender but still stay legal with the number plate.
Anyone done similar, and how ?
Apologies if this already on a post somewhere that I haven't seen.
Pics appreciated.
I cut the fender with a counter rotating circular saw. Took longer to mask and mark than to do the cut. It gave a nice clean cut without any damage to the paint. All that was needed was to protect the bare edge with undercoat then sand and apply the top coat. Used a fine brush for that.
That was legal, maybe not the fender................hahaha, but the number plate met the standard!!
CUT IT UP!! Chopped the fender rails off with angle grinder and 3-5 Corona's!
Thanks guys, I will do it as soon as I can work out where and how to relocate number plate and tail lamp.
What tail lamp, and license plate bracket have you used on yours Jinda ?
Where did you source them please ?
Cheers
Checked out Jinda's setup on a recent ride. It looks good.
