I need a set of shocks to replace the original ones on my 1988 Softail which has the seperate gas cartridges.
I have fitted a set of DNA shocks from a 1994 Softail but they hit the engine mounting bolts as the bodies are longer than the original ones.
Any recommendations on what shockies will fit?

you will be talking about the trans plate bolts the button head bolts maybe the wrong way around than the shock hits them , you may need to
remove the bolts and trim them up a few threads

Yeah sorry the trans plate. It just has normal Bolts at the moment. I'll swap them over with Button head ones and see how that goes.
Is there a difference between a 1988 frame to a 1989 and later frame? that's when they changed to different shocks.

I have an 84 had the same sort of issues most larger bodied shocks list as fitting 89-99 so something must have changed in 89. I believe the body on the shock is a different length from what i can recall reading a few years back.you have a few choices though.
Fournales . Narrow body shocks etc .
