New to this have 09 road king classic looking to go to up to 103 just woulding who has had real experience with this just looking at cam choice and looking at cast piston options other than screamin eagle and where to get in oz . Not looking for a racer just a good performer . Also leaving heads standard would it be worth it to run thinner head gaskets to up comp but dont wont to have starter problems . Any ideas would help thanks

I've been known to crash a party or 2, so couldn't care about your intro........
I own a 08 Roadking and I had a screaming eagle stage 3 race kit fitted by local dealer (Phils Garage). Could not be happier .
I know everybody says stay away from screamin eagle , $ for hp.
I spent $2400 ride in ride out including drilling heads and installing manual compression releases.
The difference in my opinion is well worth the $$$.

Just completed this exercise on my 09 FLHT, installed SE Jugs, Cast pistons and had  WFO Larry work some second hand heads that I purchased in the USA from one of the HTT forum members. Installation which involved some maching, was configured to bring compression to around the 10.2:1 which is also the sweet spot for the Cam and no compression releases (yet anyway).

I installed the T-Man 555 Torqster cam, which I previously had in my 09 FXST and although really good down low I feel that this cam is a little tooo torquy for a light bike, but it feels like a really good cam for the heavier FLHT, there is not a great deal of difference between the specs of a stock cam and the T-Man most noticable is .063" extra lift, but it is still well under the .600" recommended for stock heads and valve train components.

Previously I had installed the SE Compensator and the SE Race Clutch, this exercise was to try and smooth out the primary drive a tad, and I wanted a stronger clutch.

I also removed the CAT from the stock header pipe, a must for further improvements. Also a must is the installation of a Breather Catch Bottle, easily done on a FLH.

For the time being I have left the throttle body alone, the seat of the pants riding is a great improvemment over the 96ci and as I ride reasonably sedatley (cruize around the open road at 120K's) I feel as what I have done is certainly what I expected.

I have not had the chance to Dyno just yet, working away does not allow me much time, especially this time of the year, and when I do lob home I usually trip off with a buddy for a couple of days.

I should add that I run with TTS Master tune and after a small experimentation with a couple of files and a little V-Tunning, the sled slips along nicley but I am sure a Dyno session will optimize all workings a little better.

I hope that this can offer up some info for you, we are all about experiences,

I would suggest that you make the decision on what you really want to do with your sled, it appears that you want to keep the heads stock so the next step is to find the cam for your two choices ie Stock heads and 103ci, the manufactures of the cams will provide the specs regarding CR.

There is plenty of info on cams about the www, I like the T-Man and Andrews, but there is plenty of others. When you have your cam sorted out the the next two parts of the equation is Exhaust system and tuning programme.

Hope that this is food for thought.  Paul
