Hi,
I have recently purchased a 2014 Ultra Ltd and looking to buy a camper trailer to do some touring but have had no luck in getting a response from HD in respect to warranty issues that may arise from towing a trailer. Q. Has anybody had simillar issues or can steer me in the right direction.
Cheers,

Mitch people will help if you show respect by introducing yourself.......
It appears no motorcycle manufacturer recommends any towing and could use it against you if a warranty problem could be related to it .If any warranty issues arise even if not related to towing it would be a good idea to remove the towbar and associated wiring before presenting the bike for any warranty claims. Probably wouldnt hurt to take it off before trading or selling the bike too. I have towed a Elite camper with a 2008 ultra (about 50000kms) and now a 2012 ultra (another 25000kms) with no problems at all,all over oz . All up weight with pillion and all the shit you can carry in the camper can run at around 940kg ! so that makes the camper etc running about 250 to 300 kg, still less than bike and passengers which is around 550 to 600kg, ya wouldnt want to try and pull this with a light weight bike! The Elite campers have an over ride type braking system with twin wave discs, check them out on elite products.com.au. I have fitted a heavy duty clutch and spring (energy one) and Fornales shocks, rear tyres go about 12000km and fuel usage around 10-15 km per litre depending on wind and how much of a hurry im in. Trailers are only really noticable when taking off and parking apart from that they present no real dramas both of my ultras could cruise at 120-140 no probs while towing the camper. The camper has well and truly paid for itself as accomodation on our holidays and set up on mates front lawns to sleep off a party, up off the ground in a queen size bed beats a swag or tent anyday.
Hi, i towed a Ali - Lite camper trailer behind my 2011 Road King for a couple of years with no issues. I traded my Road King in for a 2014 Street Glide, before i purchased the Street Glide i did ask the dealer about warranty on my bike if i put a tow bar on my bike, his response was if i put a proper tow bar that meets Australian standards and with a bit of common sense, he would be prepared to over look the tow bar if there is a warranty issue, so i would say before you put a tow bar on your bike and buy a trailer, sus your dealer out and see what attitude he has on this subject?. When my bike has done 10,000 ks thats when i plan to put a tow bar on my bike but, before i do that there is an wiring issue with 2014 models, apparently you can't just hack into the bikes wiring loom to wire up your trailer because it may trip fault issues. Hopefully someone will read this and correct me if i'm wrong and share their experience but, at the moment i am planning to buy a tow bar and wiring loom and modules, from this site http://www.openroadoutfitters.com/ when they are available later this month, there is a lot of information on this site. Regarding reversing, i could reverse my bike a trailer, no issues with the extra weight but of cause on flat ground, my camper it light and easy to unhook to move around in tricky situations. Hope this is helpful and safe towing.
