Longish storage

I'm just about to head off around the block (Australia) once again. (4th time) for 16 weeks.

Unfortunately the bike can't come. Just me, 3 dogs and the good lady, Landcruiser and caravan.

Now before you all start, I looked into the options, but you can't hook a trailer to the caravan nor will the caravn take 320kg of bike mounted any where. Yeah I know, I ride she drives but she's not confident dragging a caravan around.

Anyway, back to the subject............ I have to lock the bike up inside in the airconditioning (gotta look after the girl) for the 4 months we're away.

    What do I do?

Disconnect the battery? What about the alarm? Not worried about no alarm, just worried the alarm will go off when the battery runs down from doing nothing for so long.

How do I store the bike for that long?

Oh and I will be dropping some PM's when I'm in your neck of the woods so we can say G'Day

Get a battery tender either from HD, super Cheap, Repco etc.  You can also get a small tent like thing that will keep your bike at a constant free moisture temp as long as it has electricity. I have seen 1 of these in use but wouldn't have a clue where to get 1 from.

Also do the things listed in the links above re fuel and oil.

    Happy travelling.

Would be good to catch up Mick either in the iron triangle or I could catch you in Adelaide.. Would be good to catch up with all the SA/Adelaide mob in one hit. Maybe a pub for a meal for example.

OK the storage suggestions are good but........

    1. Seeing the lightening hits the ground around here more than anywhere else in the world during the wet season, (while I'm away) its not a good thing to have battery chargers plugged in. And the blackouts ..well another story! I've lived in this house for 20 odd years and have had the place fried 4 times from lightening strikes  Pigs arse lightening doesn't strike twice in the same place!!!

    2. Don't need a bike tent.. It's going to be inside the house in airconditioning

    3. Finny...........NO!

At this stage it looks like I might get a mate to fire her up every couple of weeks to keep the charge up. Unfortunately for him it runs out of rego in 2 weeks so he can't go for a blat. (fortunate for me ) Looks like he'll have to settle for a bottle of Captain Morgan rum

Twincam88, that would be good. I'm taking the laptop so I can keep in touch so the closer I get we'll have to arrange something

1 more working day to go  This time next week .... 90 mile beach Broome

    Alan

    What about the alarm?

I'm not that concerned if the battery goes flat, just worried the alarm will go off when it does go flat. Or has the alarm system got its own supply?
