For what its worth , I became the proud owner of a new Wide Glide in July purchased from my local HD dealer and would like to share my story and observations so far.
The bike:
Really nice, This is my second new wide glide and it hasnt dissapointed at all, handles nice for what it is,Im light @ 76 kilos so I possibly dont stress the front end or the rear shocks,I have some ideas on some upgrades.Bit lite on brakes but then all harleys have been that ive rode.ABS Im yet to fire a shot in anger with.Really comfy, Its not my daily ride and I have another bike for range riding but the harley chews the kilometers in a days ride in comfort all the way.The engine seems to run out of puff after about 4 k revs. Just makes noise after that it seems lol.Its great down low but.Heaps different to a carbed Evo.
The Service:
I have no complaints with my local HD dealer .They seem nice folks and run a good business. The bike was presented pretty well , Theyve been ok so far with any questions Ive had, As the bikes only new, Just done 6500 ks. I dont expect too many issues anyway.Only things been a weeping fork seel so far.Second service is due in 1500 Ks and ive noticed the oils started to go a shitty colour and lost its clear see thruness, I think Ill be " Chucking a Wedgey in" on the 8 thousand K oil change intervals,Its done now 4600 since first service, the oils still got its viscosity but its getting dirty. That to me sort of indicates 4 thousands heaps between oil changes , I live in the tropics and its been hot as lately.Got an oil cooler by the way .Should I go to synthetic?
General:All in all a pretty fun and stress free experience buying and owning a new Harley.I love tinkering and am handy with the tools ,I dont plan on trading or selling this one as I did put a lot of thought into it before purchase.I am really getting to love my new sled.I Love the way at my age 51 I can walk in and buy some thing I can relate too from when I was a lad with my old mans Low rider in the late seventies.I love how I feel when I throw a leg over my Harley.Im sure you all understand exactly what Im on about ,,, and its NOT the home brew ok lol... Cheers.
Welcome Robb.
Always good to have another local.
Enjoy the ride mate.
John.
