Approx a month ago I upgraded my 96ci fatty with a SE 103 Stage iv kit doing the upgrade myself in the dining room. This is the first time I have ever undertaken such a task motorwise although I fitted a BDL primary to my old evo and have always maintained and serviced my bikes myself. Once it was all back together again I was a little hesitant I guess to hit the button and fire it up wondering whether I have done something wrong. So I turned ignition on, lights etc done what they were supposed too, so hit the button, nothing, what the #%&* is going on here, then noticed no neutral light on, so put bike in neutral and hit the button again, started straight away although it wasnt running real flash it was running and I was pretty happy then the smoke from the new barrels, and the exhaust fumes started to fill the house and smoke alarms where going off left, right and centre but I didnt care I was grinning from ear to ear, when I started wondering if the smoke wasnt the barrels but my motor getting too hot if the oil wasnt circulating, so put my hand on the new oil cooler I had just fitted and to my relief it was a fraction warmer than room temp so oil was circulating. I had put the only map that came close to a 1690 stage iv upgrade and that map came with 260 cams mine are 259E and a few other differences so it ran like a pig when I took it for a ride. The next day I had to go back to work for 10 days so couldnt do any data collection and do a smart tune. While at work I booked it in for a dyno the day I got back which worked out perfectly. Mark at fullbore in Hervey Bay had it for the day and when I got it back it ran considerably better considering bike had maybe done 50-75kms since rebuild so he couldnt open it up to do a full noise dyno he wants it back once its done 1500 - 2000kms. So I figured I would ride it to work Hervey Bay to Warwick to get some kms on her which was today, I set off thinking I will try to vary my speeds a bit and make motor work a little through the hills not riding flat out. I pulled up at Crows Nest for a couple of beers got back on(amazing what a couple of beers can do) and proceded to sit on a dollar forty, dollar fifty the rest of the way except of course through Toowoomba where I may have slowed down to 80. So I guess I am pretty happy with the upgrade more so because I done the work myself. I will try and upload dyno sheet whether it works or not I dont know.

    Cheers

I agree Hilly putting motor together wasnt to difficult, for me it was a matter of being confident with the results after checking all my tolerances and making sure i was within the allowable range.

Well I finally managed to get my bike in for a dyno after getting 1800 kms on her which 1000km of it was a ride to work(warwick) and back, and just picked it up then. Last dyno I had only ridden 150 odd kms so they couldnt open it up to much.... now they can.

Happy with the upgrade but the bloke who dyno'd the bike has put his own map in the sepst and not going to give me the details so you end up back at square 1, with a bike you cant even smart tune properley.

I dont at the moment but sooner or later something will get replaced or upgraded, and if it runs like a pig will have to smart tune till it gets dyno'd. My understanding was that the last accessible map details are on the laptop with in the sepst programs.
