Hi, in a few days or so, i'm taking my bike over for a tour of Tasmania. I have a 2014 Street Glide, i think that maybe when the ship is in transit it may cause my alarm to go off. What would be the best way to prevent this? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

When I went over I just left the fob with the bike.

It's not as if anyone can take it anywhere.

They also tell you to put your bike in gear but I didn't like the idea of it rocking back and forth but once they are tied down it won't go anywhere.

Park and secure bike in position on the ferry, remove left hand side cover, put ignition to "ON" ( but don't start of course!) remove main fuse.
Return front end to "LOCK" remove key, replace LH side cover, all good.
Don't forget to put key in and to the "ON" position before reinserting main fuse.

To stop the alarm going off place the alarm into transport mode. Easiest way, just involves a few select pushes of the indicator buttons.

Consult the handbook supplied with your bike for instructions

Yeah but while he's away i'm sure we can come up with at least 10 ways to do it just in case he wants to do it a different way next trip. c'mon you mob only seven to go.
My suggestion is to put it in the Doctor Who's tardis and take it there first, come back and catch the ferry without the bike, and then you needn't worry about the alarm. Easy as! Cool bananas.
    Six to go!

Buy a big hot air balloon and a leash for it, direct hot exhaust into balloon,,, good for mountain, river, creek, ocean crossings, flooded roads,,,

also good for road blocks/license checks/breathos,,, get arounds..fly overs.

Hi, just got back from Tasmania today and had a ball, thanks to all of you for the responses. In short when i lined the bike up to tied up, i ended up just leaving my fob key inside my panniers and had no issues. Once again thanks.

Slup ,, probably the best and easier way to do the job !!! At least you will know in the future how to put her in transport mode !!!!

I suppose some pics of the ride in Tassie wouldn't be out of the question ,,,, (not much action in the Tassie ride section) ,,, seeing we went to all the trouble to help you out !!!!! Cheers Mate !!

Yeah, transporting a Harley can be a hassle. But in short, remember to turn the IGN key to ON, turn the RUN switch off, then turn the IGN key to ACC (you should press them simultaneously). Then turn IGN off. It should flash 3 times with the turn signals.

This did the trick for me when I transported my Harley from Sydney to Gold Coast using Just Motobike Transport . Although I gotta say, their service was top notch anyway.
