hi guys, recently fitted some V&H straight shot slip ons to my sportster, have also fitted the 'quiet' baffles, they worked as advertised and took the edge off, but it's still too loud (it's my daily ride and transport).

I don't want it factory quiet obviously but need to cut it down some more.. Any suggestions?

I should add, yes I've seen the temporary methods to pass epa tests, but I'm thinking more permanent long term.

I have managed to get my V&H Big shots to a very acceptable level, I used the V&H quite baffles inside the pipes and added the Smartpartz Hard Kore quite baffles in the tips (http://www.smartpartz.com/SPZVHBR.html) Works great still has a very nice note but not at all annoying when you ride.

find a bike exhaust shop and get some custom made baffles done. I did this with my pro pipe and happy with the result. He actually put another baffle inside the v & h one but my muffler is about 4" round though

    Problem solved..
Smartpartz hardcore baffles in the V&H quiet baffles, louder than stock but quieter than the V&H quiets, probably wouldn't pass an epa test but it wouldnot be far off.
Bike runs much nicer too, I've regained my 3500rpm power!

Open pipes kill mid range torque, need some back pressure in exhaust for mid range, I have always used chicken wire to fine tune exhaust, you can have it long or short in different bundles, always worked for me offers little restriction to exhaust and quiets straight  through exhausts a fair bit. Cheap to use and generally stays in with out much trouble
