wow, a common sense decision from government.

Also looks like we will be able to buy helmets from overseas soon too.

Waiting to see the detail on the helmets…when I see it I'll believe it.

Also you will be able to "legally" stretch leg off the bike etc....

With the changes to loosen restrictions around helmets, what happens if you travel interstate as it seems they will also allow use of helmets which pass United States, European and Japanese safety standards can not.

Some more good info there, riding in the shoulder will be good on freeways when they are bumper to bumper in peak hour.

Does this mean we will not be able to wear DOT approved helmets from the U.S. and can only get them from Europe?

I went into morgan and wacker in newstead yesterday and was asking about the new helmet laws coming in. By the sounds of it the government have done these new laws half assed. The bloke in the store told me that yes we will be able to wear alot more helmets that comply with the overseas standards but "they are not allowed to sell them". I would think that the goverment would have jumped on the chance to import helmets and tax them to the point of being unaffordable.......

And until the other states jump on the same train as QLD as soon as you ride into NSW or any other state you can be done for not wearing an approved helmet.

This country really needs to start reading off the same piece of paper

The deal that these importers have at the moment though is selling "Novelty" helmets that cant legally be used on australian roads. Im just annoyed because i have an oddly shaped head and ill need to try one on before buying otherwise i risk wasting my money buying one online etc. Does anyone know of any places in brisbane that sell these helmets at the moment? And can they legally sell them here with the DOT approved sticker or similer sticker attached but still classify them as a "Novelty" helmet.... haha id like to try some on.
