I wanna use my phone as a GPS and am currently looking at the RAM mount products, using the U bolt ball mounting system for the handlebars.

The issue I am having is that I have currently found at least 4 different RAM phone cradles available to choose from:

    = Waterproof Aquabox

    - Universal X Grip

    - Spring Loaded Cradle

    - Finger Grip Cradle

Waterproof isn't really an issue for me, as I'm an old fairweather softcock these days...my days of 24/7 are long past.

What's important to me is that I really dont wanna see my phone parting ways and flying away at 100 kph, and naturally I dont have a fairing to mount the thing behind and protect it from the wind, so I'm looking for the sturdiest mounting system from the above list.

Just interested as to the choices you lot have made from the above list, any feedback you have on them, any problems you've encountered, or any phones you have lost due to them.

Alternatively, suggestions on other brands you may consider to be more practical or superior to the RAM products.

I've found anything RAM makes is good quality.
I use a dedicated Ram mount for my Garmin GPS on the Ktm 950.
It also holds the AFR meter on the HD.
Depending on what phone you have, take a look at Rockform as well.

I ended up going with the RAM Finger Grip Cradle, due to its versatility. It can hold anything from as small as an mp3 to as large as a gps unit.

I used a place called Mr Mobile in NSW who's prices I found were even cheaper than both a comparable store here in Adelaide, and also prices found on ebay.......................plus he had no issues taking my order over the phone with credit card payment.

I expect the thing to arrive within the next 2-3 working days, as it was shipped today (the same day I ordered it), along with an email verification of order details and shipping.

This is the one I chose: http://www.mrmobile.net.au/ram-mounts/motorcycle-mounts/ram-universal-finger-grip-u-bolt-mount-ram-b-149z-un4u

Both stores I spoke with today informed me that the RAM Universal X Grip is the most popular mount for motorcycles, and they assured me of the security of the device with no complaints from purchasers.......... it didn't look anywhere near as secure to me though, with only 4 little legs to hold the phone in place, and then also finding a youtube clip of a phone parting ways with this X mount definitely turned me off.

I have used the rams mounts for years with my Gopro's & Iphone I have about 4 mounts on the bike, for the iphone I use the X-Grip best one ever had also use the TomTom app on the iphone for the GPS. I have one of those waterproof cases on the phone 24/7 so more stop & putting the phone away. I connect the phone through a belkin Bluetooth setup has been working well for years have also answer a few phone calls through the hands free, you get some strange looks when yoiu are talking on the bike sytop in traffic.
