    G'day All,

I have a 2008 Night Train with 8 1/2 in risers with an inch pull back below the standard drag bar(see pic). The cables and wires are all standard with the wiring external but it all works. I'm looking at fitting the standard 2013 FXST bars to the stock 6 in risers for something a bit different. Does anyone know if it will be a straight swap? I tried looking under the tank to see if any cabling was hidden underneath but couldnt get the tank off. Any help would be great.

    Cheers

    Ryno

Why not just swap out the risers first as this will give you a good idea if the length of the cables and wiring harness are okay Ryno. If they are okay then it's a simple job to swap the bars over, probably no more than 20mins.

I doubt you will need to get under the tank this time but removing the tank is easy enough, what part are you struggling with?

The original risers will be the Night Trains, but the cabling is for the standard drag bar. With the 8 1/2 inch risers the electrical cabling is firm but still works fine. I believe I will need to gain more cabling from under the tank as the replacement FXST bars are a little wider, higher and further back.

the main issue with removing the tank is how to disconnect the fuel from the engine?

If I was in your state I'd call in and sort it for you but from Perth it's a bit far lol.

To remove the tank fuel line just push up the chrome part and pull down on the pipe, it's that easy. You should not spill any petrol doing this however you will also need to remove the crossover line (underneath the tank at the front) and it's this part of the job that can get messy so have a fuel container at the ready to catch it.
