TUNING - Advice needed surrounding SE & Powervision

    G'day all.

First post, forgive me for not introducing myself in the intro area. Also I see a fair few similar posts regarding tuning so my bad if this is practically spam.

Anyway here goes - I recently took off my SE Air Cleaner and Slip-ons and replaced them with a RSD Venturi Morris and V&H Big Radius 2-2. The bike was initially tuned with the SE Super Tuner (not by me)

I misplaced the SE Tuner a while back so I got myself a DynoJet Powervision in the process of getting the new cleaner and exhaust. After making that purchase, I re-located the fucking Super Tuner! No cables though.

Basically I'm seeking advice about which tuner does everyone rate as being better? I've read some good stuff about the PV as well as the SEPST so I'm conflicted. The PV seems more user friendly but I see people, including myself, having trouble finding maps.

Anyway, I've applied the closest map I could find on the Powervision (SE Air Cleaner, V&H Straight Shots) to my bike as I don't have cables for the SEPST. She's going alright, no decel pop or anything like that... but throttle response doesn't seem as linear (not sure if that's the right description) as it was before.

I've got in touch with Dynojet in regards to possibly locating a more specific map but I'm seeking any advice/suggestions for the mean-time.

I do not have the funds available to get it on a proper dyno at this stage unfortunately.

    Cheers in advance.

Why not just get the closest tune to the parts on your bike then do an autotune till you get the chance to Dyno

Too late now but when you found the screamin eagle tuner you should of kept using that even if it meant buying another cable. You then could've sold the pv. As you have now used both, both are now locked to your bike.

Now that you've got access to both tuning devices and want some advice, consider the following. If you want the absolute best tune (via a professional dyno tune), ask your tuner what his preference is and go with that. If you don't care for the professional dyno tune, I'd be using the auto tune feature of the pv. Get a reasonably close map from dynojet or the dealer you bought the pv from and use as a starting point. The autotune should then get you to a pretty good tune after a few runs.

I was under the impression the auto tune function on the Powervision was only use-able if you had the extra module and such? All I have is the PV unit, the USB cable and the ECM cable?

fatbat, unfortunately I actually re-found the SE Tuner after I had already bought and used the PV Tuner so yeah definitely a shitty situation in terms of them both being locked to my bike, could have made some cash back...

I actually heard back from Dynojet in regards to maps as I emailed them. They reckon the 11X054002401 SE/AC, BASSANNI PRO STREET 2-2 map will actually be better suited, so I'm going to give that a go and look into the auto tune.

    Appreciate the help guys!

Good to know. I've done a bit more research after your guys clarification and it does seem like a pretty handy function. Looks like I'll be applying the recommended map and then doing some basic auto-tuning.

Good luck with it. You're right in that basic auto tune is already good to go. The advanced auto tune uses wide band O2 sensors purchased separately. Sorry I can't help with map info as I use tts

Thanks mate, I reckon I'm good to go now. I'll apply the recommended map and hook up the auto-tune and leave it connected to the bike for about a week, that should give it enough time to learn and adjust what it needs to hey? No worries at all about not being able to help with maps, I've learned what I need to for now. Thanks again.
