    G'day

I have a new softy that has Weston bars which has internally fed wiring but I'm putting on some pullback t-bars  instead . The wiring situation has been driving nuts on how to trace the wire to the underside off the tank and trying not to let the tank scratch but I think I've got it covered now after reading a few blogs on this forum . If I need to cut a wire to extend or shorten the lengthen a wire, do I need to disconnect the battery to do so or can I do it with the battery connected without tripping out the computer ?

I'm not really mechanically minded when it comes to bikes and especially a new harley but I didn't wanna get raped by a bike mechanic in cost and I'd rather do as much technical work as I can to the bike to learn more about it  .

    Thanks again

Play it safe with any of this new fangled electronic shit,,, disconnect the battery, or Murphy will get ya.

And if it's an Ozzie bike with the security fitted, I think ya gotta turn the ignition on to disable the alarm, then disconnect the battery.

Turn the ign back off after the battery is disconnected.

All ya hafta do is disconnect the negative ( earth ) lead to make it safe.

    Have fun !

Where abouts are you? I may be able to help as I have just removed a set of apes from my 2012 fatboy and the the plug and play extenders are easy to deal with. You do have to remove the tank which is easy.

I paid a guy to do this exact job - I didn't need the aggravation....and I have someone to blame if it went pear shaped (and a warranty too!)
