LED headlight 5 4/3 (street bobs etc)- Rivera/Primo

I didn't want to blow big bucks on a daymaker (do they even come in 5 3/4?) so I just grabbed a Rivera Primo 5 3/4" LED headlight.

Not sure of the price (so geta  quote), but it was under $300 to my door with other stuff, from Griffin Cycles http://www.griffinspares.com.au/default.aspx?PartNo=1116-0201

I've barely had time to look at it, but after a 10 minute, plug and play, install (no headlight blinkers setup yet and I've only guessed at beam alignment) and a quick ride tonight, it seems great.  My old headlight was a peice of crap compaired to this one.

Blinker setup would require (I presume) running the supplied wires through the handlebars though they could be hooked up to a power wire and used as (amber?) running lights.

Only fault I found so far is my chrome trim ring doesn't seem to fit as tightly as it did, though I can pack it (a peice of rubber strip?) so no biggie if I think it's not safe.

As always JJ at Griffin Spares gave good service and it's always nice to have someone you know wont mess you around if there are any problems.

They look ok, I have the Genuine HD LED headlamp insert, I am not 100% satisfied with it. Does your Low beam stay On, when you switch to High beam ( as the phase 7, 7inch do) Genuine HD it does Not. Got any pics on the road?

I went and had a look and the lows do turn off when you turn on the high beams. Seems it would be better to leave them on for more light?
No pics yet (no time. I noticed they are WAY better when its darker, while around town I wanted to get more out of them.
Either way, my old headlight was cactus, so this is a vast improvement.

Just a stupid (or not?) thought - I remember years ago wiring up car headlights so lows stayed on with highs using relays and fuses (?).
It was a long time ago so I can't remember the details, but the same principle applies to motorbike headlights. Maybe's we need to look into it, since the idea of having a darker area near the bike isn't appealing....nor is losing any potential lighting advantage.

Just to let you know guys, with our LED headlight replacement units, the low stays lit on the 5.75" unit. It does add extra light closer to the front of the bike.

Bonkers, you won't be able to add a relay or change any wiring with the LED's as its part of the hardware design. Some choose to have the low go off and others on. We choose to have the low on all the time as to me it's a good idea to have as much light as possible.

    Cheers! Nate

That is good news Nathan, with Low staying On. I have a HD Daymaker, had for 5 years. Never been 100% happy, as I don't believe when on High beam, that there is enough light directly infront. Might try and save for one of the Hog lights.

For the guys that have a LED Headlight that doesn't leave the low beam on when the high beam is on,

all you would (cheap fix) have to do is to get a 2-3amp diode bridging the high beam terminal to the low beam terminal, make sure the band on the diode is on the low beam side.

That will supply power to the low beam but it will not allow power to go to the high beam when the low beam is on, if that makes sense.

I have just replaced the headlight on my bike with one from Hoglights.
Very very happy with it. I have the 5 3/4 inch 50w in black.
Well worth the money and great service from Nate.

I got a $184 one off eBay (in Aus) for my 883 iron and was utter crap. Poor light and no distance. It was returned the next morning..

One of what?  Several lights have been mentioned on this thread.  My Rivera Primo works good, I just would have bought elsewhere if I could do it again.

LED light off eBay, it claimed to be good and it was far from it. It was not one of the above mentioned lights.

You should post up the ebay ink so none of the other guys here get ripped off
