i have a 02 883 with the 1200 conversion, this is my first harley so im unsure of how they are supposed to be but when on the highway doing over say 100 km i feel like im kind of thrashing it, i know i can change the sprocket but it will only reduce the rpms by about 500rpm

Just wondering if this is normal for them 

my standard 883 doesnt sound like it`s being thrashed when its on 100 or a little over....it sounds like its going but not like being thrashed

cheers for the reply's, been looking into it i think its seems worse than what is because its a frame mount and has drag pipes.

yea i hear the 1200 mod to an 883 really makes them run hard and vibrate alot.. (dont know from xperience tho)

I have just done the upgrade installing the 1200 kit onto my 883 iron. ( at HH Ringwood ).

what a massive difference it has made. It felt like it vibrated a bit early on, but it is perfect now.

i thought about selling and buying a 1200, but in the end, just found it was cheaper to go with the 1200 kit on my iron and I am rapt with the result.

the bike seems to cruise a lot better on the highway, and at 110km, you give it a twist and it flys...

Highly recommend it.

How much did it cost you installed if you don't mind me asking?

No worries.

i already had the SE heavy breather and super tuner done ($1100)

then it was about $2500 to get the HD 1200 kit and have it installed.

from memory, the kit itself was about $1500 and  then full day ( 1000 ish) to install and change oil, re flash to 1200 map on super tuner etc....

It has totally changed the way the bike feels. It took a while to get my head around spending the coin but I did it in 2 steps which made the impact ($$$$) a bit easier to deal with.

Great result in the end.

+ 1 on the six speed! Make them 100cubes as well..............good fun!

How different is the 883 gear ratio to the 1200?

My 48 feels like it's bogged down in 5th gear sitting at 60mph, I'd usually gear down to 4th to accelerate from 60mph
