    Hi all

Dont get me wrong, i love my cvo, i fell in love with it as soon as i saw her all nice and shiny in the showroom . It is a reall head turner

    But.......

Buying a brand new bike and within a few months having surface rust appear on your tank and rear guard on the polished metal under the clear coat,  and its never seen rain??

    WTF ??

Anyone else with a cvo, or any other model with polished metal tanks  having the same issues ?

I have read several forums in the states and it seems that im not the only one with this problem with this model

Just to top it off...10 weeks and counting for replacement parts !!

CURIOUS IF THOSE FUCKERS WILL DO THE SAME ?  .....................HMMMM

From what I've seen of Harley's alledged quality paintwork, it is garbage acroos the board. The new stuff doesnt last. Basically really poor prep from the factory.

They're only yanks or mexicans earning enough to buy burgers afterall..

I can't see the rust - it just looks like dirty metal to me. And surely they'd just clean it and coat it in something to prevent rust, right?

Bit of an uptade for you all......first reported 21-7-14 .....bike picked up a week later for assessment and ordered parts. Over six months later still no effin parts . This has become way past a joke now !! Buyers beware of Harleys slack replacement times

Was a post on this forum in December I think it was, of this very same thing, what appeared to be rust beneath the clearcoat on a "molten silver" cvo breakout.
Maybe search a couple of threads to see what the outcome was for that poor bastard also, though I cant recall seeing anything else about it.
Fucken disappointing I bet to spend $40K plus and have this happen, it must be painful. I too (like you and others) would be more than pissed about it.
Sorry to hear you have this happen to you, hope it works out and keep us all posted on the results/outcome you have.
Keep the rocket placed firmly up their arse ol'mate.
    Cheers billybop

i was talking to my dealer today....they quite honestly told me that this was the reason for Harley not producing a 2015 cvo breakout this year. Harley is so back logged in re sprays of the molten silver models that it is not funny. Im finding that the CVO forums in the states are also writing similar issues

    Billybop.

No offence mate, but you could brush up on your photograpic skills.Could not work out what those pictures were...well....depicting.

On a more sympathetic note. If Harley has made a boo boo with that models paint job then they should do the right thing and recall every one and fix it.

Rusting under the paintwork is not what paint is for.

Or you could take a different tact.

Plough on into the uncertain future. It's a CVO! Let the tank and whatever rust to smithereens and embaress the makers till they do fix it for ya.

Document the demise, if you know what I mean.

another update for you all.....acouple weeks ago my dealer gave me the call to let me know the tank and guard had arrived in Melbourne so they were picking up the bike to replace

First reported 21july 2014.....parts arrive 9th april 2015 .  couple weeks short off NINE FUCKING MONTHS !!

Now just to top off the whole saga......the dealer unravels the new tank to discover yet another paint fault.....like a grain of dirt fell in the paint process which left a tiny divot on the top of the tank which stands out like dogs balls

What  i really want to know is who was the last QC check guy who released this tank from production as a Quality Harley Product , and why the fuck does he still have a job????

Im Really fucking dissapointed Harley......Maybe i should of bought an Indian instead   :(

The rust on my bike is 6 inches long and an inch wide. I am waiting for my 4th tank to arrive being replaced under warrantee I am so fed up with this I am starting to wish I had never bought the bike. I have asked Harley if they will just spay the bike black but no reply.
