Has anyone got one of the mustang seats with built in riders backrest.   Am considering buying one but would like to know if it is worth the extra few hundred to have the backrest included.

I am considering a wide tripper diamond with built in rider backrest.

    Cheers

I'm on my second wide tripper with diamond stitching. Just did a 900km day on it yesterday. I don't think it's a question of "is the back rest worth the extra money?" - If you need the back support get it!

    Mustang seats are great.

    Is the backrest detachable?

Yes it's detachable in two seconds and when it's not in use there's a small flap covering the hole via Velcro. It's very neat. The back rest even folds up and fits into a swing arm bag. I'd suggest buying the backrest as the backrest can't be retro fitted or attached if you don't.

I got one on my 07 street bob and love it. I have a bad back/ I can ride all day with it and only about 10k without it. The back rest part is removable for days or events you dont want it there ie putting bike in show etc.
I bought it via Ebay (earlier this year) from USA for $476AU from Murrays Cycles and I think that included shipping (not sure) which is heaps better than the $1200 I was quoted from bike shop. They were great, not a problem.
    ebay address is http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/murrayscycles

    cheers
