I tried a search but could not find anything so will ask those in the know.
My '04 train has developed a gear change issue. Riding sedately it changes gears without any issue but when I nail it and go to change, nothing is there. No resistance in the gear change. If I roll off the throttle a bit I can get it to change gear but under full throttle (and really full) there is nothing there. Weird hey! Any ideas before it goes to the doctor?
The motor has had a bit done - 97cu, big bore, 96 heads ported etc, SE211's and adj rods but this does not have to do with the gear change issue. No metal at oil changes. Bike now has 55k on it.
Any help appreciated.
It's not locking up. Nothing is there. Free as a bird. It isn't the original clutch but it has been in for around 30K+. I don't think it is the clutch but I could be wrong. It has 2" forward controls with aftermarket linkage but again it has been working ok before and I haven't touched any of that. Maybe it needs adjusting..
Is the shifter staying up as you change gears? And not returning to the centre position? If this is the case you need to remove the shifters off the pivot mount and clean/regrease the pivot. You may have to screw in the tension bolt a tad at the back of the clutch housing, near where the starter motor bolts into the case. This puts a bit more tension on your shifters. Hope this may help.
Shifter moves as normal. Returns to centre. It's just that there is no gear change resistance like normally is the case. I've been searching other forums but nothing yet.
