    G'day everyone

my names Robert and I'm wanting to get myself a wide glide for myself as a birthday present for my 40th. I have to work on the minister for war and finance but I have just over a year to do this. My last road bike was a Ducati 900 monster that I bought new in 1995 and the bikes I have now are a Husqvarna TE449 which is road registered dirt bike and a 1983 Yamaha IT250 that I have done a cosmetic resto on. Looking forward to getting back on the road just got to get my scaphoid fixed before I can ride again. Looking forward to riding a harley ten years ago I never thought a harley would be something I wanted but now, really hoping I can convince the home parliament that it it something that is required.

    40thtoy, Welcome

Shattered my scaphoid into 4 pieces many years ago, now have 4 pins in the wrist, recently had 4 months off the bike after a shoulder reconstruction so never give up on the dream and the harley is the most comfortable bike i have found to ride, So don't give up on the finance minister !!

Welcome Robert. Back in the mists of time my darling was resistant to the idea of another bike but when a couple of friends had health problems she saw that I should have a Harley because life is short and the future unknown. It made both of us happy, maybe one more than the other.

Keep at it, it will happen for you.

been lurking around for a while and not really done anything bike related yet but Today I am going to test ride a wide glide. I have sold the IT250 and the Husqvarna is ready to be off loaded and there is a good deal on a 2014 wide glide in a colour that most dislike but I think looks alright with the right bits added. Bit nervous about getting back on the road after so long but going to ride the Husky in to the city wont be comfortable but it will give me some confidence. I hope I like it and then hopefully I can talk the minister for war and finance into the deal!

OK test ride went well and I really enjoyed the Bike and now need to convince the Minister for war and finance. A couple of questions, should I get the bike stock and ride it for a while and do the exh, a/c and tuner myself or get the dealer to do it all??

I like to get the first service out of the way in case there is some initial warranty claims to be made.  It will be far cheaper to buy and fit the A/C & exhaust yourself.  Not a hard job and both the A/C & Exhaust will come with detailed fitting instructions, plus you get the satifaction of having done it yourself ;)
