    Hey Guys,

I've got a 2012 Iron 883 that has been in storage for the past 6 months down the Mornington Peninsula while I was O/S.

I went to pick it up on the weekend and was devastated to see that some surface rust has set in over the chrome, in particular the spoke Nightster wheels.

What's the best way to go about removing it ??

Any tips will be greatly appreciated, cheers.

If it's just surface rust, aluminium foil and a vinegar based product works the charm. Spray something like white vinegar (I've even used Windex before) on the surface rust and rub with folded aluminium foil.

Have done this a few times in the past and works perfectly.

If it's past surface rust though, then you need to look way deeper.

It shouldn't scratch. At least it didn't for me. It removes the surface rust quite easily, so not a lot of force is required.

Something like CLR will also work well, but can leave stains and marks.

Autosol Metal Polish works pretty good, gets rid of the appearance of surface rusting.

But remember that the surface rust has eaten into the chrome, even if it's a tiny amount, so keep up the polish to keep the rust out.
