Side stand spring

Can anyone post a pic of what the side stand assembly looks like under their bike. Preferably a 2014 fatbob.

was on lions rd today and my side stand dropped and started clanking about freely. I pulled over and walked back up the road and found the spring. Had a look at where it attaches and it looks like a pretty loose arrangement, perhaps I lost another bit.

Flagged down a bloke in a car and he very kindly gave me one of his shoelaces off an ice hockey skate he had in the boot so I could tie it up to the passenger peg while he held it upright for me. What a legend.

cable ties will now become part of my pocket luggage.

Believe it or not but harley stands are one of the few "safety" stands that are designed to flick back without lifting the back wheel off the ground if you do accidentally take off with the stand down, and are unfortunate enough to not realise and go through a left hander and have it happen. Thats why when you do put the stand down, the bike has to lean over more, when the stand first touches the ground, to engage the tang at the top of the stand bracket. I know every H-D rider looks with trepidation at the imminent failure of their stands, but i have never seen one fall over yet with the stand properly engaged. most other bikes and jappas are deadly if you leave the stand down unless the bike has a safety switch like most do these days. H-D have a replacable tangs if you wear one out.
My mates bike lost his spring on a ride last year. Not a harley though.

This info is for touring models,,,  may be of benifit for others..

I have lost a couple of jiffy springs over time,,  riding over shitty roads , low kerbs etc,,   Just be aware of the spring end that connects to the jiffy stand .  The hook swivels , and must be installed so hook is up, , (see pic),  so as if any scraping  occurs , the hook will not be be pulled out ..

If you do loose a spring, (and find the fucker ), put if back on to get out of trouble, but replace it,, as it will probably have lost its tensioning abilities..  Good idea to have a spare in your  tool kit ..

Also the jiffy stand heel tang , (see pic),  over time, hitting and scraping  things,, can be bent down and scrap while cornering.    Get a large shifting spanner, and while bike is on jiffy stand,,  bend  it back up !!!!      Cheers.
