Yeah i think that is my only option at this stage , would prefer to keep my standard ones and by a set and then polish or chrome them.

Not sure how right this is but when I tried to get some Chrome Lowers for my 08 Fsxtc , Gasoline up here in Brissy said they didn`t do them after 06 for the Softails ... seems a bit strange to me .

I reckon Quack is right though , a bit more looking after in the long run but done well a set of polished legs look the part ... not sure if you are interested or if even they are a match but I have a set of stock 09 forks , lowers and tubes that I might be persuaded into off loading ... I never used them , they came with a package deal I bought off a guy with other bits and pieces when I scored his paint work .

The story he relayed to me was he bought his 09 brand new and only put on a few K`s as in less than a couple of hundred before he put on a set of Performance Machine forks and changed the whole look and was left with all the left overs to which he had to get rid of as the years went on ... have no reason to disbelieve him ... the paint work I got off him was fantastic .

What part of Aussie do you hail from ... if South East Qld then all the better ... make me a fair offer and they are yours ... if outside of Sth East Qld then if you have someone you trust up here to get them to you then just as good ... I can post them to you of course but have no idea how much the postage would be considering they go on weight I think .

If interested I will dig them out and post a pic or two ... maybe ask some of the good gents here what a fair price is and go from there , that way you have your stockers as a back up .

    Cheers , Tim .

Thats a kind offer, at the moment i have one of the local bike shops looking into it for me as he seems to think he has got a set before for a 2010 custom but had to buy them individually as they don't come in pairs , i will give him some time and if it falls through i will contact you. And by the way i am down in Geelong so i will have to try and organise something with shipping . Thanks.

No worries at all ... let me know how it turns out because I thought it was a bit strange that with all the Bling Harley has for some reason they do chrome lowers for late model Softails .

Polished alloy will always look better  than chrome and it will last longer

Been trying to get some lowers for my 2013 FXST for almost two years so would be interested if you find any to suit. Dealers just look at me blankly when I ask

I have found the Arlen ness lowers but the price i got was $730 for that money i think i might aswell go with a harley inverted front end. Still looking for some second hand lowers that i will get chromed and see how that goes.I thought about polishing my lowers but nothing else on the bike is polished alloy so it might look a bit odd , i will try it first if a get some second hand ones and then if i don't like it i can chrome them.

When I bought my 08 fxstc in 08, Chrome fork lowers where still available then maybe a year later Harley deleted them for I think 07 and up.

Pretty sure it had something to do with the release of the inverted front ends being released for the custom/ standard softails. As there 3 times price of chrome fork lowers when the lowers where still available.

I simply bought the green dishwashing jexes and rubbed a bit more of the coating off the  fork lowers each time I washed the bike. Then polished them up with aluminium polish. The coating is hard to rub off with jexes and as i have a bit to go, ill buy some wet and dry maybe 1500 grit and rub the rest off the coating off, So far the polished up bits on the fork lowers come up smick. And the p[olish rubbs off the jex scratchs really well.

I suppose Harley took the view that if you bought a custom softail, you probably are a chrome man anyway so deleted the chrome fork sliders to get you to spend shit loads more on chrome inverted forks.

I too lazy to polish the spokes on the front wheel of my custom softail so I jex em the a quick polish and they come up like new. Pitty about the chrome that starts to bubble on your front wheel hub after 4 years. I guess Harley gamble that you will buy a custom wheel off them too.
