Installed a K&P oil filter today and was just woundering if anyone has been using one of these on thier bike "long term" now that they been around for some time. Have been doing alot of reading on the filtration side of things but f@#k me dead all I have come up with is that it is the best filter in the world and the worst filter in the world from people that have never owned one or haven't had it long enough to say yes they do work well. My main concern is filtration for the long term and can they cause other problems in the oil circuit. Would like to hear if anyone has used these long term or done their own oil filtration tests and what was the out come. Sorry if this has all been asked before.

Jeez I just use the oil filter my local indpt shop uses and sells. I think it's the oem Harley one and inexpensive enough that I wouldn't bother looking at other ones. I wouldn't over complicate things for an oil filter

I use one and its a good thing only pain in the arse is that ya have to clean it then dry it then fit it. take a bit longer than just spinning filters on and off, no issues with mine

there is another brand, pro flow or something like that that has a nut on the housing makes it easier to remove but same set up otherwise

Yeh I know what you mean fatbat but I liked the slight cooling affect that it has with the built-in fins but unsure about stainless steel mesh filter. After reading on here about the slip on collar that acts like a heat sink and thought this might work a little bit better. I'm not out to have the worlds best filter just wondering if that little bit of heat loss is worth it?

I've had one on my bike for a few years with no problems to date still running the original o'ring. I'm very happy with the diagnostics being able to see what my engine is shedding metal and fiber wise and happy saving dollars every service.

Been running a similar one for years.
not just a filter, finned body also acts as a bit of a cooler.
    Yes oem filters are cheap,
but it is the big-ass magnets that sold me.

    Im all for them,
    Each to there own

I've got one on mine and I recon its a good thing. You can have a look to see what happening in there. After about 10 changes it has paid for itself too.
