That's what I reckon too Daggs ... is it ok to ask what type of figures you got out of her after Tune .

I still have stock heads and throttle body, will do them and new exhaust down the track.

89hp and 103 ft/lbs of torque before the dyno (running a canned map I loaded after fitting the big bore kit and cams)

97hp and 115 ft/lbs torque after the dyno tune.

she goes like hell even from down low, totally wrapped with it.

Thanks guys , appreciate the info ... from your guys experience do you think a dealer is going to have a problem with reflashing the ECU .

Looking at your dyno graphs I am not surprised it wont pull a high speed. Your torque drops like a stone after 4500rpm in the last graph. I bet you have a shit exhaust. I do not know what a FREEDOM SHORTY is but I bet they are restrictive in gas flow. Your engine does more work at 2250rpm than it does at 5500. Torque curve is flat from basically 2k to 4k then nosedives. A set of dyna headers and some good slip on mufflers and you will make a truckload more power and torque.

Get someone else to ride it, 100% Throttle hit 6000rpm in each gear and get there feedback

ohh and don't forget to look at the speedo

Mate it is not hard to see if you have FBW. LOOK at the throttle body and turn the throttle grip ( engine OFF) and see if you can spot a cable moving on the throttle body. I very much doubt you will have a speed limiter on an 08 model. Then do what Ando said. See if it revs to 6k in 4th. Should do 180kph in 4th gear. If it doesn't see my post above.

There is definately something out of the ordinary with your top speed.

My 1200 sporty gets up to 180, (controlled environment of course mr plod)

Any way of telling your revs? and has anyone previous messed with the final drive ratios?

A 583 cam will lay down like that, just like a bad exaust because the inlet close is short and short overlap. The 585 should have legs all the way up.Basically 40 deg more inlet duration and 11or 12 deg more overlap from memory.... We will see what happens with time I guess.

I remember old crumpledoor holdens had a speed limit in the ecm of 250 k's an hour wich i thought was pretty pointless . Would take a steep hill and a strong wind to get one to do to do 250 .

Hey guys thanks for all the comments ... a small update but still no real solution as yet ... went back to The Gent who did my Dyno when it had just the 583`s and PC 5 and pipes and filter of course ... same pipes from day 1 by the way ... stock ... small upgrades ... and now .

Lushy I think you know the guy up here in Brisbane , Fred at ProCycle ... anyhow related the story to him and he was pretty busy , as usual , Lol ... but he pulled up one of my old maps and showed me where it was doing 183 in 4th ... just like you said Lushy ... Fred also said exactly the same as you about the 583 Cam laying down and to be fair he also stated it wasn`t his Cam of choice but for the price at the time and for what I wanted at the time which was low down to mid range grunt it pretty well did the job .

84.5 Hp and 100 torque ... near enough exactly the same as what S & S state like Speedzter has shown above ... I was relating a bit of info to Hilly and possibly one of the things is the fact that I haven`t been winding her out long enough in the lower gears ... generally I will be riding along 120 in 6th drop her down to 5th give her what I thought was enough berries and then change up to 6th and then encounter the 160 mark and then that's it ... to be honest haven`t usually been looking at Taco , just changing up when I thought the old girl had had enough .

Fred also confirmed to me that he had raised the Rev Limit from the standard settings to 6,200 Revs ... very possible that I haven`t been any where near the Rev limit in the lower gears ... BUT ... definitely wound her out until there was no more to go in 6th .

Am going to get out this weekend hopefully and give her some more in the lower gears and keep an eye on the taco as well and see what happens as well as getting booked back in with Fred for a proper tune and a check to see if the Speedo is the culprit , I don`t think so though ... at least then I can rule out a couple of things .

Maybe what Ando was alluding to is that I am a big Wuss and not giving it enough , Lol ... we will see ... I do know one thing though and that is the difference in power with this new motor ... and it is still only 2000 K`s old by the way , not sure if that makes any difference ... but fair dinkum if what Lushy says is right and a good tune and do something with the pipe is going to achieve even more power down low and mid range then where do I get a new set of arms , Lol , because she pulls like the proverbial now down low and mid ... just that top area , Lol .

Stay tuned fellas for the next instalment ... Cheers .

I know Fred for sure.(well actually :-) ) If your map is for 583 combo and you now have 585's the ignition will be way off. Get the Fredster to retune it,then see what the torque curve looks like. BTW the speed limiter does not misfire like rpm limiter, it just shuts down the FBW throttle as far as I can tell. As above LOOK AT the throttle and see if there is a cable moving when you twist it. If it's a cable throttle I am sure you will have no speed limter.

It should pull ok from 120 in 6th and keep going until you are struggling to hang on.

I'm reading here about people struggling in 6th and it surprises me honestly. Mine was ok in 6th even when stockish

Sure I kick mine back to 5th or even 4th for a real rush as in the high revs she really performs but 6th is no trouble either, plenty of torque.

The 585's are advertised as a horsepower cam but their torque is amazing too

Thanks Ando , definitely know what you mean , sometimes it`s good to get thoughts and 2nd opinions from others ... don`t worry though it won`t surprise me if this hole issue comes back to me not giving it enough .

Lushy ... I would imagine you are 100 % right ... the throttle does have a cable so I think I might have to rule out the Speed Limiter theory ... will definitely be getting into Freds for a retune as soon as possible ... bugger is so busy though , it could be a while , Lol ... I suppose the other thing that rules out the Speed Limiter theory is the fact that when Fred did the Dyno work before when it had the 583`s it ran 183 in 4th .

Just to clarify though it isn`t still running the same map as when Fred did it ... the guy I had build this engine , after I ran it in took it out with his Laptop and did whatever it is one does with down loading maps and what ever to get it to run as smooth as he could until I get a chance to get it to Freds to work his magic ... he was very adamant that it wasn`t in it`s most perfect tune but was pretty happy at how it felt .

For me I think this is where all the confusion is because if it was such a bad tune then why does it run so dam strong from Zero to that annoying 160 ... seat of the pants feeling , easily twice as strong and so smooth through out the rev range ... and like you said above there , it doesn't misfire one bit , just straight power until the 160 appears then just a feeling of wanting to go more but not going past the 160 on the dial .

Anyhow I suppose I am just going around in circles and getting all paranoid , Lol ... will most likely be something simple and be all sorted after a visit to Dr . Fred ... have definitely appreciated all the comments though and feel free to keep them coming ... and I will post the outcome when it happens ... cheers fellas .
