    Hey People,

Thinking of getting a 2012 Nightrod just for something different. I am sure there is someone on here who knows about these things...

On paper they look awesome.... Basically I am after something a bit more let's say faster compared to the sporty.

Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated.

    Cheers

I ride the VRSCF variant, love it.

Take one for a test ride it's the only way your going to know if you like the Nightrod or not.

My mate has one, I regret riding it because now I want to sell my sporty. Addictive power. But handled like a tug boat. Ripping 2nd gear rolling skids never get's old either :)

I have a 2009 Nightrod and my mate has a 2013 Nightrod. The riding positions are very different as in 2011? the night rod got the Muscle forks and forward controls. This set up is not as comfortable as my 2009 as the forward controls on the 09 are better positioned.

ride a 2010 or 2011 rod, then the 2012. See which one is more comfortable for you. seats, bars and pegs are all different.

Irrespective which one you like- the VRSCDX is a great ride.

I have a 2013 NightRod and LOVE IT.

They come with the reduced reach bars - I have changed out to the 883 drag bars and like the strecth better. Power wise they are great and as mentioned earlier rolling whell spins in 2nd always puts a grin

    on your face!

But it! You wont look back!devil

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I had a look at one yesterday stock as a rock American Import (I know they all are) meaning distrubuted and complied by someone else apart ffrom HD.

Claimed 3,500 kms. Strangly it had no ABS compared to the Australian models. Not that that's a concern just a thought for resale maybe.

Stock pipe sounds like shit. I was shocked how it didn;t sound like a HD.

Do you guys think an independentlly imported bike will cause me shit with resale or any other issues?

    Cheers

Being an import should not make any difference as it is the same bike... But it does.

When you go to sell the bike down the road you will find it difficult to sell and wont get a good price because it is an import. A mate of mine imported a Heritage Softail and when he tried to sell it had to drop the price heaps to get rid of it. Also the dealers will tell potential buyers not to get an import and that imports won't be supported by the dealer. I guess they have to protect their business but that doesn't help you.

BoxHD - with the VRODs power you will appreciate the twin disc ABS up front. My Street Bob has single disc ABS and compared to the VROD - its piss weak. To make a standard rod louder you can drill the stock mufflers (did that - it was ok), buy some V&H Black widow slip ons (i did that too - and it sounds HD cool) or go crazy with V&H Competition 2 into 1s (loud as hell and you need ear-plugs - i like to enjoy the ride so i never considered this).

So it's been a while.... Thank you for all your advice and helpful comments. Bike shopping went on hold for a while however today I out a deposit on. 2014 Muscle low kms. Stock as a rock.

Hopefully I can pick it up this week.

Can't wait to go for a decent ride.

I got a vivid black, looking at some pipes now I think the Tab Performance slip ons are looking good. Went for a blast yesterday and I am surprised how nimble it is for a heavy beast.
