Hi,  gave the bike a handful this afternoon from the lights and suddenly I have a loud tapping noise from the engine (it varies with rpm).

can I ride her for about 20 miles, as I want to show her tomorrow?

False alarm! I have had the engine apart and when installing the adjustable pushrods the holding nut came loose so the pushrod collapsed.
