Battery has finally died in the Softy, looking at replacing the battery. Have replaced the batery in my dirtbke awhile ago with a SSB lithium battery, best thing I have done! It never started well, can leave it sitiing for months & still fires up!

Has anybody used these new lithium batteries In there harleys?

Dont know about the lithiums but im due for a new battery so i went into battery world and they were trying to talk me into buying a gel battery which is 50 bucks dearer than a standard specked Harley, They bla blad about the gel battery being so much better than the cheaper standard battery. I asked about the gel battery warranty and it is 12 months same as the cheaper battery. I asked the sales bloke why the gel warranty wasnt longer to reflect its so called dearer price and better battery acording to the man. He couldnt actually tell me why the gel was better, He just spun meaningless rubbish.

I went with a Harley original as last one lasted 4 plus years and that includes a bad habit ive got in turning the ignition on and hitting the starter straight away rather than wait untill the fuel pump pressures up then hit the starter as I would of thought my bad habit would kill a standard Harley battery fairly quickly, Maybe less than 2 years but it didnt.

Hope someone who has a lithium posts his/her thoughts on them here. But if its a lot more expensive, It should reflect with a higher warranty otherwise ide be scepticle.

only had a trickle charger for two years, yet rarely have a need to have used it

i use one in my Dyna dragrace bike  only 0.7 klg ,stock battery 7.6 klg , but they would not like long distance trips because they charge up to quick , stock harley battery is best or deka brand

Mickle, which SSB battery did you get? Do you happen to know the size {CCA}? Not sure which one to get, factorty battery from the manual says 320 CCA. But the recommendation I got was larger & more exspensive.

I have the 700cca in the Fatboy, not cheap though.

always the odyssey option but you will need a step for it to sit on as its a bit shorter.
