G'day to all those whose insights I have read over the past few weeks that have helped me to the point where I shook hands over my 2014 Denim Black Fat Bob yesterday. She's getting V and H big shots, RSD air cleaner and tuner fitted today for pick up tomorrow hopefully.

I have been off bikes for about 7 years since a big off on my previous Kawasaki Z1000. All previous bikes have been of the Japanese variety. Can't wait to put some time in the HD saddle.  Mount Nebo is calling me. Compared to my last run up there though on an R6 I have a feeling I will equal parts slower and noisier.

    Cheers Lads.

    Congratulations mate.

My buddies & I tend to spend more time in Northern NSW, awesome riding & nowhere near as busy as Nebo etc.

Thanks for the tip Rowey. Future ride perhaps but Nebo is less than ten minutes from my place. It will be a good run to remind myself how to corner.

M & W. Excellent service and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Coffee machine upstairs aint bad either. I tested a couple of options before I went with my initial concept. I was looking for a big Harley that could handle a little bit more than just cruising. Cant wait to test my theory.

Welcome. You'll be satisfied with the results. +1 on Morgan & Wacker, great service and I also gave the coffee machine a good flogging. Say hi to Luke for me.

So I picked her up yesterday afternoon. Why have I left it till now to get a Harley in my life. My thoughts so far could be characterised by four words. Effortless fun and that noise.

Not a single bit of bling except for the stage one. I love the RSD air cleaner. It has a clear cover so you can see it open up when you open the throttle. A gimmick I know but cool none the less.

Just back from a quick blast up Mt Nebo this afternoon. 2nd, 3rd and occasionally 4th gear fun. Hit an RBT set up half way down the hill on the way back. Pulled in as quietly as I could because I am bloody nervousness about how ridiculously loud the Phat is.

Cops have been on the receiving end of a lot of bad blood in social media recently including some incredibly violent comments and threats. While I am in no way a supporter of these new QLD laws and will vote Newman out ASAP, police like soldiers generally do as they are told. These two officers checked my license (ACT), had me blow in the bag and wished me a good afternoon prior to listening to me rumble away.

I am the first to admit that I am a complete newb when it comes to riding HDs in QLD and there have clearly been many individuals discriminated against in the last few months. These two cops had the opportunity to give me grief and didn't.

Mount Nebo has improved in the 12 years since I rode it last. The surface is good and the corners are smooth, except for the couple with barriers separating traffic. Traffic was scarce. Of the four cars I overtook two of them pulled over and let me past. This is a short ride but due to its close proximity to my place is an enjoyable blast to scrub the brand new tyres in.

Random thoughts and ride reports from a HD novice.

Cheers Phat and welcome ... congrats on the new ride ... as said above by others , Harleys are a bike like no other , I to come from a Jap bike back ground and still absolutely love watching the World Super Bikes and of course MotoGp , lets see if Lorenzo can beat Marquez tonight ... but I can't ever imagine going back , I still have a 77 Z 1000 in the shed that is in the process of repairs / overhaul but for me it is Harleys from here on in .

Your right that not all cops are bad but on the flip side not all are going to be as good as the ones you had today so a good win today , Lol .

    cheers ... Tim .
