That's a good deal but you have to ask why is s&s now selling a 107 kit with cp pistons?

s/s may not have pistons to suit 4.375 stroke , there original  106 cub was based on 4.500 '' stroke crank i think , so to be in market place they supply out side brand to cover that part of the market maybe , just a thought fat bat

Just had to replace my 106 cube kit after 4000km as I had a huge oil consumption problem.. was using about a ml every km (500ml per 600km)

I had noticed the problem when I got back from a ride to Cooktown and back..

I re-honed the bores as the score marks were not very deep and were removed with the new hone.

Re-measured the bore and it was not out of shape [don't have a set of torque plates to measure under tension]

After another 600km it starting to use oil again....so off come the heads again..

The bores were scored up again and the bottom skirts of the pistons you could see alot of wear....

The pistons in the new 107 cube kit are Carrillo [bullet series] the old ones weren't branded [came in a plain box].

I've only put 160km on the new kit so I will see how it goes....

I'm hoping the new kit will last... I'm sick of pulling the top end down and spending money...

Pretty sure they were Wiseco pistons with a slipper skirt, the 106 kit I had used oil as well

for me its a cheaper and better/cheaper option to get CP 107 pistons and bore your stock Barrels

I've done about 5000k on mine and hasn't used a drop. I measured bore to piston clearances before instal and all was well within tolerance. I have all the measuring gear which helps.

I'm the same as Daggs, 4,000 kms on mine and hasn't used a drop.

I have it on good authorithy that the kits are cheap because they are grey in color. This makes them about as popular as a pork chop in a synagogue.

@Mr Bean.....Your honing the jugs etc without using a set of Torque Plates. No wonder it bleeds oil.

The s&s 107 kit with cp pistons i referred to above is a big bore top end kit. Came out a few months ago. Whilst there are lots of happy s&s 106 big bore customers out there, there is a sufficient number of posts and customers reporting issues on USA forums with the 106 pistons as well as the cylinder shape not being perfectly round, to be of concern.

Yes that's true, that's why it's advisable to measure everything before assembly and it's also a good reason why boring your own cylinders to suit which ever pistons you select is really the best way to go.
I got mine for a very good price, way better than the one quoted here and mine are the black with silver fins not the ugly grey lol.
Wanted to keep my std jugs for a spare set down the track

has any one ever measured bores before after torque plate honeing , then taken plates of and remeasured with bore micrometre , not gereral measureing gear , its very interesting ,

    Allan what did you find?

to bore mic before and after , very little movement in a harley cyclinder  , the cyclinder gets compressive load , so tighting procedure is important when tensioning for honeing and same procedure when tensoning on eng , , i use torque plates for boreing and honeing , hot honeing is interesting to watch , holden race team , think larry perkins started sending them years ago to england for honeing at operating temp of eng to minimise distortion as sand cast blocks suffer from core shift dureing manufactureing , the blocks could have 180 thou one side ,and 80 on the opersite side of bore , these would give  problems ,
