Any one know? Haha... Wheels are 21" front and a 17" rear with a 180 tyre, axles are 1" diameter... They're nice and cheap but how much of a headache am I in for? Would I be better off buying some nightster or 72 wheels from HD and bypassing the headaches?

    Cheers,

    Tom

The cost would far outweigh the benefits. As a minimum you'd need a WG front end, have to cut your rear fender rails and if I'm correct the WG rear is a 180mm on a 6" rim. You'll need a new swing arm as well.

Guy selling them seems pretty certain it's a 17x4.25... It's got a 180/60R17 on it certainly doest look 3 times the size of the 21x2.15 next to it :/

17 x 4.26 should fit, there is a member on here who is running a deuce wheel on his sporty. You'll still need to change trees or put a narrow glide hub in the front wheel for it to fit.

The rear fits a guy did it on HDForums (the US one) this week on a 48.

It's a fair bit of work though

    thread here

    http://www.hdforums.com/forum/sportster-models/996605-180-rear-tire-conversion-48-complete.html

10x easier to chuck a shinko 170/70/16 on the stock rim and be done with it. 10mm isn't worth it. (tha'ts what she said)

Yeh i saw that thread, I could care less how wide the rear tire is at the end of the day, I just want laced/spoked wheels cos I hate the stock iron wheels and he wants 750 for both, a single nightster wheel is gonna cost me that from harley so just researching my options... sounds like the wide glide wheels are just gonna be a headache in the long run!

sorry to hijack the thread - looking at new rubber soon for my Iron and wouldn't mind going a little wider without mods or new wheel. Are the Shinko's available here and what are they like in the wet?

    Cheers

you are after the Shinko 777 in 170/70/16.

In the wet they are supposed to be fantastic.
