Hi all well i am a bit bermused at a reaction i had when talking about sportsters with others ,just happened to be saying that i had joined a forum and reading different posts and mentioned i was taken with the custom sportster , to this i was greated with " thats a girls harley" to which i replied f/u . You know its funny as the only people i have seen riding them are blokes havent seen any girls riding them or any other harley not to say they dont ,I was quite dissmayed by this approach to what i would call a sensible sized harley for me to own being only 5foot 6 inches  anyone else had this sort of thing happen?

That's been said for years. Maybe once upon a time they were, but not anymore. Pump some coin into that so-called "girls bike" and then see who's laughing when you smoke a big twin off the lights. I almost bought one myself. They're great.

Sportsters are far from girls bikes. I would said the same thing!!

My bike WAS a girls bike, she had it from new in 2006 XLC put a lot of $$$ into it and put 10,500ks on it. it still had the original tires on it. I have had it for a couple of fun filled mouths and I don't care what any one says, it's NOT a girls bike it's MINE. This is what it looked like when I got it.

I had the same issue with a mate of mine who rides a V-Rod He said don't get a girls bike get something bigger and better. As this was my first Harley purchase I went with something that I felt comfortable with and am glad I did cause I just love my Iron. The mate that made the comment hasn't said anything else since I rocked up on his doorstep the day after I bought it and showed him. I will purchase something bigger down the track but for now Its my Iron and my ride.

This has been going on for years I think its great a bit banter, I dug this up from January 2012, Ive had my FLD for 2 years now and love it and I still have my sporty, I cant bring myself to letting it go.

Doesn't matter what bike you ride, your mates will give you shit..... you ride a dresser and it's an old man's bike....who cares?
When it's mentioned that this Harley is faster than that Harley or whatever, ya gotta realise they are what they are...and that is, they're not that fast. If you want fast, get a sports bike. I have both and love riding each for different reasons.
