    G'day guys,

im in need of some new brakes for a 98FXD.

ive seen some 4 piston callipers by Performance Machine that I like the look of. I always assumed they must be top notch considering the price and reputation etc. I've since spoken to 2 blokes that reckon they aren't much chop. Has anybody else here had any experience with them, either good or bad? Or can anyone recommend any other decent options? It's a fair whack of change to part with for a lemon, and I'm pretty keen on having very good brakes.

    cheers

I have Pm 6 potters on both my 08 Softail and 99 Springer now and like both and are way better than stock but to be honest they don`t compare to the stopping power of practically any modern Jappa ... Tokio ... Nissin ... Brembo`s ... just to name a few .

It`s always amazed me how bad Harley brakes are considering how much more weight they have to pull up ... and that's before I even get on , Lol .

Another thing to consider is the right rotor ... my 08 has a 13" RC Components semi floating rotor and seems to work the best so far out of my 2 ... the Springer at first had the original single pot calliper on a CC { custom chrome } rotor and when i put the PM 6 potter on , within a single ride down the Steep side of Tamborine Mt , the rotor warped worse than any rotor I have ever seen .

Have since chucked on a standard Harley rotor until I track down a good Semi or full floater but is good braking again , heaps better than the single potter but a touch short of the 08`s stopping power ... if the standard Harley rotor didn`t look like shit would probably keep it , Lol.
