    Hi guys,

need some help. I got defected doing nothing wrong in North Sydney on my Street Bob and need to get it sorted. I got two forms. One has Pipes and Pod Filter on it. This needs to go to a DECCAN approved noise tester it says.

The other form I got defected for side mount number plate holder, no reflector on the rear of the bike, 16" apes.

my questions are can u walk me through the process? I'm planning on putting full std pipes back on and original filter. Can I do this myself? I'm not overly handy.

Also, are they two seperate inspection centres? Are these guys normally ok or wankers?

im super stressed. I think I'm going to have to pay to get it all changed over and then I can just get fuckin defected again anyway!!! I was doing nothing wrong it was a hwp car and he was a prick.

My old man died the day before and I took the bike to the shops to clear my head. I even told him he said it doesn't change the fact I was on an illegal bike!

Not having the best week, maybe there is a mechanic out there wants a cash job.

    Cheers.

Sorry to read about your loss :(

Pipes and filter should be easy enough to bumble your way through - easier if you have the original instructions so you can do it in reverse. No idea about the rest of it.
For the future, just my personal opinion, but side number plates seem to make the cops go nuts so that's one thing I'd avoid.

LMAO Installing pipes is not fiddly at all. I have done it numerous times. All you need is a 1/4" drive socket set with a 150mm extension and a 10" shifter. Its a cake walk. My daughter could do it.

I recently changed complete pipes , from start to finish took about 5 - 6 hours.
If you need to put the stock pipes on you might need a sledge hammer and a block of wood to bash them in place onto to headers, was a prick of a job fitting them.

I'm not super handy but 5-6 hours to change pipes is a bit long. Took me an hour and a bit last time I did it and that included a lot of fiddling to get a very tight fitting 2-1 system out of the exhaust ports

Give a couple of the local bike repair shops (non harley dealers) a call and get them to give u an estimate to put the pipes / air cleaner back on - they are normally cheaper than a dealer.

    I am sure other's will supply options but I have used P&L at Toongabbie (2/200 Toongabbie Rd, Toongabbie NSW 2146, Phone: (02) 9631 1866) and also C&R at Revesby (1/9 Green St, Revesby NSW 2212 Phone<img src=" border="0" src="/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif" />02) 9773 8543) and can recommend both.

And back to the OP.... As sexy as you think the side mount License plate is; its going to get you some real loving from the law! They are just plain illegal, so it gives them a perfect opportunity to pull you over and then the pain starts.

There may be a few things which may be a pain in the arse to change. For me that is all things re wiring. But it's not too hard and some of your required work is easy. The exhaust for example is easy. Don't listen to unhelpful exaggerated estimates of six hours for a simple job which isn't helpful at all other than to make it sound hard and discourage you. You don't need half an hour to prepare, don't need a lift or stand, don't need to remove seat and disconn battery. Don't need to drive off half way thru the job either. Take your time and enjoy learning a few things.

    Hi
Bet all that bling was fitted at an authorised HD dealer. Maybe point that out to them, doubt you'll have any joy there though. Funny how that works.
The country is chockers full of bikes like your's, nice bike by the way.
One day soon there will be a state wide blitz on bikes, poli's superanuation comeing to a crisis point soon.
I had z bars about forty odd years ago, got in strife cause you couldn't have welded bars, that changed has it?

    Hey fellas,

Thanks for all the replies I appreciate it massively. I should apologise for being so slow to reply after the old mans funeral and crap I pissed off for a couple of weeks. Now its back to hating cops and getting my bike sorted...
I'll have a crack and let you know how I get on.
For those that asked the copper DID say to me I pulled you over because I saw your side numberplate holder.... F#$k! Safe to say the original one will be going back on for good.
Re the pipes they are a full system and I'll have a crack myself. The bars are what worry me, I will have a look at the specs and swap them to get them passed. As for the sneaky airfilter option I may try that.
My bike has been stroked to 113ci so I am a bit worried about how it will go for emissions even with the pipe...
    Thanks for the information guys
