I have just purchased some chrome timer cover screws to replace stock screws. I have found the part suggested (32690-99A) are too long for my 2011 Model Fatboy. I have been to 2 different dealers and both say part is correct but these screws are about 3mm too long. Has anyone come across this before and has a solution outside of cutting screws down??

    Seems like the right part.

You are trying with the cover on right?  Since around 3mm would be the thickness of the cover.

Yes i have tried with cover on. It is liked the housing has not had the thread tapped far enough because i have inserted a match in the hole and goes approx 10mm deeper than the longer screws

the housing does not come threaded from new for the screws. The screws cut their own thread, although they are not of the usual self tapping type
Just fitted a new cam cover yesterday and thats the way it was.

So you think the longer screws will cut extra thread with some extra pressure
