I'm in a between several comments on wether or not you need to hook up to a computer after you bleed brakes on current model ABS bikes.

I spent about an hour, a full bottle of fluid and a pump bleeding tool. I made sure every last sign of air was out of my brake system after changing over my bars with longer brake lines.

Manual says yes, Techs say no.

My brakes seem to work fine. When I start my bike the ABS light flashes whilst on idle. Once I start rolling the ABS light drops out.

I'm a bit unsure here?? Has anyone had any experience with this and has solid advise? I can't continue with "she will be right mate" from my local tech. (who doesn't have a computer)

    Cheers Guys.

Dealers will recommend when flushing or bleeding the brake system on ABS bikes, to use their digital tech tool, (ie, in their workshop). Why wouldn't they !!! Can it be done like non ABS bikes,,, Yes it can... If you are competent with bleeding brake systems, (as you seen to be), and no air gets into the system, you will be good to go. Provided , as is your case, when on start up, ABS light illuminates ,,, start rolling, ABS light goes out. Of course , pump up brake before hand and make sure brakes are operating properly.
Then test ride slowly to make sure brakes are operating properly... What I do , is find a quiet road and test the ABS system in a controlled manner a few times to make sure the ABS system is working as it should.

If the ABS light stays on after the first roll on, (and the brakes are working), you can assume air has made its way into the ABS module while bleeding the system. Not the end of the world. It means your brakes are operating like a non ABS bike . To correct this , and get your ABS system back on line, you will have to ride to your local dealer , with the digital tech tool , and have them re bleed your brake system,, about an hours labour.

I just re read your post,,,, when you mention computer,, we are not talking about a personal computer or tunning device , we are talking about digital tech tool the dealers have , (their harley workshop computer).

    Hope this helps you. Cheers..

Thank you guys. I was scratching my head on this one. Makes sense that the light flashes until you start rolling. Although I don't recall this when the bike was new??

Anyway I believe all is well and I have a firm brake.

Your pads are not releasing from the rotor could be a number of things

    Pistons in callipers sticking
    Pads jammed in caliper
    Plunger in Master cylinder sticking

Couple of things to look for but you need to work out why your pads aren't releasing from your rotor
