As above ... might get lucky and get it for less than 16,000 , especially if owner is keen for quick sale like he reckons in ad ... looks neat and tidy that's for sure .

If you get it for $16K or under it would be a bargain. A couple on Bike Sales, a 2005 black one looks very nice and he wants $23k. However as they others have said what you want and what you get are very different normally.

    Good luck

There is most likely another way to tell but is it possible that the bike in question is actually an Australian delivered bike as I can't see any of the purple stickers that are associated with it being an import ... they are usually located on the down tubes of the frame .

I know there is something to do with the Frame and Engine numbers but to be honest can`t remember what that is right now ... of course there is always the argument that regardless wether it is a dealer ship import or brought in through a freight company trying to make a buck they ARE ALL imports aren't they , none of them are made in Australia .

Only my 2 cents worth but from what I have seen these last couple of years and listening to people who know a hell of a lot more than me on this matter , the fact is the Yanks put far less Miles / Klm`s on their bikes as opposed to us Aussies ... I`m not saying that those Klm figures are definitely correct but it is totally possible they are genuine .

Anyhow as above if you can get it for $ 16,000 or close to that then I reckon you have got yourself a pretty good deal ... depending on all the other normal checks like it all being legal and the motor sounds good and everything works of course .

1HD vin , it's a used import. If it has one , the pink sticker must be out of direct sight ( mine is !)

Would not have passed compliancing with those exhausts on it , has to be 100%+ stock !!

Would not pass first inspection for state rego in WA neither

Looks nice and clean ( lots of grey imports I have seen ARE NOT SO !)

It could have been a "Personal import" of course , whole different set of rules there but they are EXTREMELY rare.

What does he actually want for it ? you can pick up a 2007 110 cube FXSTSSE Screamin'eagle CVO Springer for mid twenties easily now, and that's a much better bike !

Doing some homework is the best option, it my well be a personal import ? They are out there some nice ones also coming in.I buy ride and bring home and sell with the original speedo and full history, the picks look OK.
    $16k seems cheap.

5HD has been the designated prefix for bikes sold outside the US for a long time now

There was obviously a changeover date , but the bike in question here was deffo a US bike when new !

What I mean specifically by a "personal import" is a new migrant bringing a vehicle , or an expat Aussie who has been living overseas.

They have to have owned the bike abroad for 2 years+. That cuts out 99.95% of us. The RAWS system does not apply in those cases.

That's why they are RARE ! I saw a Dyna Wideglide here in Perth brought from the UK , no RAWS required. Bike still had Miles and Km/H on the speedo !

6 days to go with 25 bids so far and up to 16,100 ... reserve not met yet ... will be curious to see how far it gets ... doesn't mean it will be worth whatever price it goes for , just what some one is willing to pay for it .

Import sticker placement rules / regs must differ state to state because they are ALL in plain site in Qld ... funny how Australian state governing bodies don`t get together on things like that .

As above though those Klm`s are not definitely incorrect ... might have been just a Yank who didn`t ride much .
