I can't believe the value of these and how much they plummet in next to no time......is there too many of them around?

I bought mine a year ago, with all the mods with bars etc spent close to $20k

Fast forward a year and I can't sell it for love or money, Halry dealer have told me they are doing me a favour with trade in of $13k, they value the bike at $11k !!!

Got mine for sale for $15k now, loads of views on Bikesales, not one enquiry!!!

It takes a bit of time, if your in no hurry it's a matter of waiting for the right buyer.

My 2010 Muscle with options when she was new cost over $32,000, now she's worth around $18,000 private sale, even less through a Stealer.

Stick it on Gumtree too. 3 of the 4 bikes sold by myself and mates have been on Gumtree for some reason.

Just be glad it's not a car. They can lose up to 40% in a year. I also reckon you are suffering from a bit of Harley price gouging. I bought my 2010 iron brand new and paid $13,300 ride away. Since 2010 the rrp for the bike base steadily increased to about $15,500 now, with the only change to spec being ABS. They were only ever worth about $13,000, no matter what Harley charge. They just jacked up the price because the model is popular. Buying any car or bike and selling after only one year is the best way to chuck your money away, no matter what car or bike it is.  My 2 cents worth.

I think part of the problem is also that when people buy a harley, they're real keen on getting into the customisation process, so when the bike is already heavily modded, that attraction is lost. Just speaking from my own perspective, I'd sooner buy a 2nd hand harley bog stock as opposed to customised.

I'm with Jayman, part of the appeal of buying a bike is making it your own. If you're lucky enough to land a buyer who isn't interested in the customising process you'll get your price but most people will buy a bike with the same km's for $10k and do the rest themselves.

I sold my Iron last August and it was highly modified, however it was also a little left of field in comparison to all of the denim black bikes that are getting around at present.

Don't rush the process, might take 4mths but it will eventually go!!

cheers, I was expecting a flaming but it seems everyone is quite sensible ha ha.........

DAVUTCH, I actually quite like the finish on your Iron ; - )

I think I'll just bite the bullet and trade it in...........as much as I liked the Iron, I got bored of it pretty quickly, looked at the 1200 conversion but I found the brakes to be pretty poor on mine, upgrading probably would have been suicide.................the thought of another five grand or whatever the upgrade costs...........all up $25k for an Iron............I guess I had to draw the line somewhere

Yes Brash.............I parked my bicycle, err sorry Iron beside the Breakout and took the Breakout for a spin.................yep it's $29k new but it was incredibly comfortable and well flew down the road like $hit off a hot shovel...........1700cc it was no surprise really..............loads of torque..

I followed one in my car the other week and that back wheel..............largest back wheel on a production Harley, I've got to have it I'm afraid !!!!

Yeah I made the mistake of riding my mates modded Night Rod special, Didn't handle for shit but lighting up the rear tyre 1st and 2nd gear was a lot of fun haha.

I'm afraid if I ride a Breakout I'll end up in a lot of trouble with the missus!
