OP - take all the custom stuff off your bike, sell / trade the iron as stock, then sell the other bits on gumtree etc. Bit of dicking around, but worth it in the end, otherwise you're letting the dealer rip you off twice.

Yes they have dropped in resale value. I have the 2014 model and looking at selling it next year so I can buy a Dyna. Might have to sell it private if they keep dropping in price.

Yes Iron, your jaw will drop especially if you want to trade your Iron in, regardless what you've done to it.....

One Harley dealer shows me a 2013 Iron, a year old with K&N Air Filter, V&H exhaust etc, the guy took $9300 trade in on a Fatboy!!!

Privates aren't shipping either, spent over $20k on mine, a year on, about 1800 views on Bikesales and not one enquiry and I have it for $15k negotiable!!!

Just had a test ride of a Breakout

It was OK but didn't blow my socks off in the performance aspect, to be honest my forty eight would knock it off from the lights but man it was comfortable. You could ride that thing for hours I reckon.

Got a trade value on my bike..... laughable, the sporty stays.

Missus won't notice another bike I hope.

I was spoilt, I had a go on one with a Stage 4 Screaming Eagle kit which I'll end up getting fitted....

For me it's the comfort aspect............I'm 6ft 1" and nearly 100kgs, so the Sportster can feel like a BMX to me sometimes. I can't do long journeys, I have mini apes and if I ride for say close to an hour my arms shoulders and back go numb.......

and you're right, I felt like I could have ridden the Breakout all day..............I'm sold on the back wheel alone...........I'm easily pleased

the market is flooded with used late model bikes  a dime a dozen same as Holden or Ford  they made heeps of them
