After owning about 8 Ducatis over humpteen years I took the plunge and bought a new '14 FB Lo.  Took me ages to decide on the model to buy and I really like it, even more so after the first 300 klms but unfortunately its already back in the shop getting an electrical error sorted out - oh well - the path to true happiness etc etc........

I live in Brisbane and just want to get out and enjoy riding!  Cheers everyone  - Dave

A question for you. What made you change over to a HD from Ducati ?

Thanks for the welcome - appreciate it.

Very happy with the ride. I took the opportunity to test ride about 6 different HD models before deciding - thought I was just confusing myself really - but one of the staff at M&W said before I finally decide I should ride a soft ail just for comparison purposes as I couldn't find an alround comfortable bike that I loved the look of. SO he threw me the keys (fob) to a Slim and off I went. Rode round the corner and felt this is it! Great foot placement - smooth ride - rode for about 4 hrs up around the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. I was really surprised at the feel of it on winding roads - it just felt 'right'. Importantly I rode it within the bikes inherent limitations but loved it.

Went back and decided on a softail. Chose the Lo for both looks (similar to slim) slightly higher ride height and pillion potential. Weight was a bit more and I'm still trying to figure where that extra 12kgs or so is in the bike - wheels maybe.?

I still have a '13 Ducati Monster 1100 Evo for the moment but I've really bonded with HD - surprisingly so - can't wait to get out on the bike again. I bought the Evo as I didn't like the feel of the newer water cooled Ducs despite the massive power. For some reason they've lost the Duc feel a bit and certainly the sound - at least my Evo with Termi's on it sounds like a Duc should!

Was very disappointed about the electrical issue - within a day or so a VINERROR code was coming up on the speedo. Took the bike back and the dealership have been very good about it if not somewhat embarrassed - have a the Slim I first rode as a loaner while they sort it.

Further to the above - I really like the history of HD too - motorcycling is more than just 'now'.

Its great to be able to actually access a huge range of gear and accessories easily too. Ducati as a small factory was always a problem with such things!

Guess I'm a HD convert already!

Good on ya Redda ... if ya get the chance and like the History side of things then Harleys are the go for you ... jump on you tube some time and just waste hours checking out some of the cool old stuff old timers used to get up to .

I wonder if they will totally explain the VINERROR code , novice here but sounds like they didn`t properly load all the correct info in when setting up the VIN number to the FOB and so on .

How was that friggin rain we had in our Sunshine state yesterday ... no bloody riding that's for sure ... beautiful today but annoyingly windy , oh well better than gale force rain , Lol .

Cheers , enjoy the new toy ... Tim .
