Could not remember which thread it was that I read about lifter wear in the 120r. Was mentioned that it happened in most cases 17,000km plus. I also talked to guys on Facebook page Screaming Eagle 120r who had issues too. Mines done around the 20,000km so I bit the bullet and changed them out with S&S. 3 out of the 4 looked like new. The front intake lifter starting to get a fine line in the roller. May not really have needed to change them but have a little peice of mind now it's done. Anyway here is a pic. The one show a little line is on the right.
could be lifter profile ground convex , could be lobe ground convex , valve spring on that valve may be weak , maybe inner cam needle roller bearing starting to fail if lifter was from that inner position , lifter may not have correct tolerances and bleeds down under higher rpm , bigger heavier valves ,higher spring pressures , high lift , or higher intensity cam profiles create higher load factors , rocker shafts will show wear early if checked , i change all these items every 10'000 ks max , if the items are the same dimesions, same quality ,but then they are submited to higher loads ,there for wear is accelerated, i change all these items at 10,000 ks or when eng apart which maybe at 5,000 only , stock eng 103 may last 80,000 ks , stock 120 lb spring presure on seat stock , fit good lift cam profiles and then need 180 lb seat , 50 % extra load , performance comes with price , cheers
Might be my imagination but it sounds quieter now.. There was a little wear on the rocker tip on the valve for the same lifter. from what I could see of the cam lobes through the lifter blocks they look un marked. Going to save for some roller rockers if they fit in the rocker boxes with out mods. I think this 120r is going to educate me on twin cam engines.
B lifters out of my 120r they have done about 40,000 + ks only come out tonight

Nasty. Make mine look real good. Mine only done half the kms though. Next time I'm going to check them before I order. Think mine might have been ok for a little longer. Worth the cost of a few gaskets Orings and a bit of time.
One of the inner pin roller bearings failed in one of mine. You can't see the issue easily but you can definitely feel it when you try and roll the wheel with your fingers.
Had the S&S lifters in mine now for about 500km. I must have done ok it aint gone bang yet. Here a pict of the old ones. Not that bad.
The black & Gold lifters and push rods look sexy. But no on ever sees them. Oh except when they are worn and we post pictures of them. S&S rollers seemed more solid.
