Hi Guys,
Just thought i would finally add a couple of pics of my softail custom with my 85 fxwg in one with it. The softail is a 96 custom with more cash thrown at it than a cheap hooker. I've still got a long way to go until i will call it finished and be happy with it. Yes it does go well with the 40hp shot hangin off the side

Fatboy,
Nice scoot,
What back rest have you got on there and what did it set you back ?
Cheers
Paul.
Chris & fatboy,
Your bikes are looking good. that colour is so good in the flesh
Fatboy...Godd to see you are represinting the model
GOT TO LOVE THE t-shirt.
They look good in the copper and black.
Mine is still a work in progress. I only rode it as stock for the first week before I ripped into her.
I have changed ECM to a ThunderMax with/ Autotune and SE stage1 and V&H pipes at present along with Led Taillight 1.5" Burley T-Bars 8" rise.
I have NESS 3" forward exts on forward controls. Chrome and Ruber complete set pegs etc. Just waiting to put grips Chrome Switches and switch housing. Am going to do this when I run the wires through the bars and replace the throttle/idle cables with Diamondback items to match the f/brake and Clutch cable.
Also changed the mirrors and have ext on all blinkers and H/Light. Also have the Retro seat and have Floating Rotor on rear. Still need to have front put on but will do this when I remove front end to have forks chromes and also have chrome spacers to go on.
Also put on the Head bridge covers on the left with Red SE leads.
I bought a can of genuine HD texured black spray paint $40AUD so I could spray the backplate on the SE Stage1 air cleaner back plate. It is now basically invisable and looks like part of bike. You can see where it attaches to the head in the pick.
Also waiting for 1st service so I can get the Flush LED fuel caps on.(gives them a 2 year warranty if the dealer does them and I have read about a few leds failing so will be on safe side) They are also going to fit I hope the rear axle covers as I have tried and I don't think the ones I have fit on the 07 but they reckon they can get them on. Will just have to wait and see.
Still have few other things I would like to do. (PM 6 piston chrome front calliper springs to mind LOL)
Good looking bike ya got there 1340LOCO.
Is the LOCO short for locomotion when ya hit the nos button?
Mate, she is a beauty!!!
What number did you end up with? Mine is 625 (same model as yours)
Couple of questions. Oil cooler, was it worthy installing? how much fitted?
Pipes, did they make any difference to the sound/performance? Did you have to do anything to the engine when changing the pipes? How much?
Are you going to change air filter?
Like I said, great looking bike, stay safe and enjoy the ride.
Thanks for your info. I will definitely install the oil cooler (it' bloody 36*C today and it will be 38*C tomorrow and Boxing day)
The pipes are a separate subject. I don't want them to be too loud but I love the look of SE slash ones (illegal on a road bike - too loud) so I have to wait and explore the subject some more.
I will get some photos of my HD and I will post them here but that will be after Chrissy.
Thanks mate, Have a safe and great Christmas and a great New Year 2008. Stay safe and remember it's the f%#King jungle out there.
I have fitted a T/Max Auto after running the stock ecm for a few months. All I can say is the the difference if bloody amazing. I have been using a laser thermometer to moniter the head temps and oil tank temps after every ride, recording the temps aganst ambient temperature and I can see the temp difference (about 20degF cooler on both cylinder heads) and will continue to moniter the temps as the T/Max ecm learns. I live in North QLD so temp is important to me. As blackDragon has said, if you change bikes it is transferable. The T/Max is pretty easy to install, does what it says it does and is good value for money if ya buy it from the states (save about $500). Go for the piggyback system if thats your choice, but I have seen the results and like having the ability to make basic changes without the need to book (and pay for) dyno time. The ecu does learn and you can see the changes each time I hook the bike up to the computer.
I think the dealers don't like the T/max because they don't stock them, there is no need for dyno time (= loss of $$$$ to them) and your average punter can fit it, tune it, modify the tune and get outstanding results. Where as the other systems require an expert and a dyno. Greg
Nice bike. Mine is a 2007 model with about 17,000 miles. It would probably have more miles on it; however, I had to have back surgery last month and haven't been riding it. The picture isn't that good and you can't see many of the little things I've done but here it is anyway.
Old school seat, twisted sissy-bar and luggage rack, twisted pegs, shifter linkage and shifter peg (all handmade), screaming eagle velocity stack air intake, headwinds headlight w/skull bulb, V&H big radius exhaust, chrome toppers throught out, swing arm covers, swing arm chrome inserts and pivot bolt covers, braided cables, new console, flush mounted (LED) fuel guage and gas cap, chrome accessory switch housing and mastercyclinder, chrome levers, fuel pack, derby and timing covers, relocated turn signals (front w/smoked lenses), rear turn signals double as brake lights w/red lenses. I'm sured I missed a few items that I've added to the bike. I plan to bump the 96ci up to a 113 ci in the near future but need to save a few dollars ($4,275 to be exact). Has anyone done this to their 96ci? I would be interested how the increase in power affected the rest of the bike, primarily the clutch.
Its at my mechanics now having chrome front lowers installed. He also slapped on some wicked a** grips that come down to a very sharp point which could be dangerous to my health if I ever impale myself on one of them. I will have to change out the mirrors because they will not flow very well with the spiked grips...I'm looking at some the Arlen Ness mirrors which are wicked looking.
Thanks. The forward controls are kicked out 3 inches. I'm 5'9" so no I'm not very tall and it's comfortable riding for me. There the ones from Kurakyn...if you're interested in getting some.
If I wasn't old with a bad back, I'd rather have a nice rigid...
Nice bike, I would lose the b***h seat because it would look so much better. Just a thought from 2fas4u.
Hey Chris
If your running out of things to chrome try the All Models section of your 08 cattledog.
Never been there, wouldn't know how to find em, but have also heard good things about Mackay M/C, but, next time your in there you should point out that the S/E slip-on with the S/E logo goes on the back / top.
Deadly, I wished you would have posted a bigger picture of your bike. Is that the stock seat or a aftermarket seat? It looks like it sits low in the saddle but I can't tell from the photo. I put one of those old school king n queen seats on mine which dropped me down in the saddle about an inch which was about the perfect riding position for me.
Nice ride you got there
Yep, that's exactly what I meant. It definitely makes the bike look better, my opinion.
