Hi To All,

I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for some advise from experienced harley owners.

I purchased, new,  a 1200 sportster custom nearly 2 years ago from Blacktown Harley and to date, great sales service and great aftersales service.

However, I have a problem with the way the bike runs and can't seem to get it sorted out.

When cruising along at say 80ks in 4th gear, bacause the traffic is slowing me down , the bike coughs and splutters, lurches, as if it was running out of fuel, acceleration is not a problem just cruising speed??

I ride mostly 2 up with my wife , total weight between us approx 150kg.

The bike has a tuner, screaming eagle slip ons and heavy breather filter and I run 98 fuel.

It has been in to the work shop a couple of times but don't seem to be able to get it sorted out.

My son has the exact same bike  except he has big radius pipes and his bike is as smooth as silk.?

Can anybody help me with this issue?

Does it need a specialist tune up?

Hi Jimmy, It sounds like it. What efi module is fitted if any? This is your first question. If you are cashed up just get it dynoed, if not you can Autotune the bike.

There are probably 3 or 4 calibrations in the cal file list for 1200/883 sportsters

I'd be trying another reflash of the ECM trying another cal first off , no cost for that. ( If you have all the cables etc !)

I tuned a mate's wife's 1200 Sporty using the "supposed" correct cal for a bike in Australia

Bike ran like your description , tried another cal from the list ( this was using TTS mind you !)

Bike ran like a wee top immediately and still does

Using a Supertuner , should be no different , well worth a try

PS you must have a skinny missus haha....

Hi Bashful, thanks for your reply, I'm running Screamin Eagle Sports Tuner, I'm not cashed up so I wneeded a inexpensive fix?? Runs out of warranty next week

Went back to Blacktown Harley, thay asked me to bring my bike in on Sat Morn and they will retune(reflash)-no charge. Cant complain about they way they are trying to fix the issue-GREAT service so far.
